Chalet at Stella Makadi Beach

The location just outside Stella Makardi Resort was great, lovely and quiet, essentially a private pool for the Chalets also. Facilities at the resort were good, selection of pools, gym, spa (extra charge). The resort is all inclusive, but not for Chalet guests, was able to purchase evening drinks and meals (Indian, Italian) easily, affordable. The beach was great, off the jetty the snorkelling is exceptional. Dive school and kiteboarding on site as well. Other activities also on offer (Volleyball, Yoga etc.).

The local mini-marts only really sold snacks and soft drinks. The owner Mary was exceptionally kind in helping me setup a local grocery delivery app (Egyptian phone number), which was great with a huge selection, and same-day delivery; cheese, eggs, bread, coffee etc. Also at night the resorts each close off the beaches to outside guests, so you can’t visit other resort restaurants on foot. However there is a wonderful beach bar next to the resort worth a visit, Bomba Cafe.

The location was great! The apartment is really nearby the beach. The kitesurfing school is also only 5 minutes away. Next to the apartment there is a pool that can be used. Both rooms, living room and bedroom had air-conditioning, which was really great! The communication with Mary was great, and she organized our transfer to and from the airport and to the supermarket. We really enjoyed our stay!

Thanks to Mary and Armia. They reminded the procedures of the gate pass etc. Armia was waiting for us in advance due our problems with e-sim. Chalet is not far from the sea. Some shadow (at least part of the day) for the car parking is available. On the terrasse we found a couple of BBQ grills. In 5.5km available grocery store, so the grills were used with a pleasure.

In modern world internet is smth so obvious that we need, that it even doesn't come to mind to check it's availability in description of the accommodation. Particularly as it doesn't mentioned in it. So it was a bad surprise that the router is available for additional cost. Guys, add 1usd per day to the accommodation cost, put the router moored and don't bother yourself nor the guests with such a surprises. The chalet is the last in the side, close to the next hotel territory where the renovation is in process (end of 2024), also the electrical substation of the hotel is close, so it's noisy outside. Luckily- the side is with the door and technical windows only, so it's not so obvious from the bedrooms.

Location was lovely near the beach with its own coral reef. Buffet restaurant available at the hotel. Pools and beach were really lovely and the snorkelling was great. Would recommend if you like sea life.

There were limited food and drink facilities that we could use at the hotel - no cafe selling food on the beach for instance as the hotel is an all inclusive resort. Shops on site were very expensive. The chalet was not very clean. It could do with a deep clean of kitchen and bathroom to make it nicer.

You can have your own space away from the chaos of the resort, which for me is amazing, but still access the resort facilities if you like. The bed is very comfortable and the bedsheet very clean. The apartment is nicely decorated and everything works. The air conditioning especially works very well and it’s a plus in August hot weather. Considering we’re still talking about large resort distances, the beach is at a walkable distance. The reef is very well kept, but you have to swim a little further away than most tourists. Many dead zones but alternating to very colourful and lively ones. I wouldn’t recommend snorkelling just at the end of the jetty, but if you’re a good swimmer and manage to go further on (where the reef bends to the right) you’ll be amazed by the colours.

Although the rooms and the floors where very clean, it would seem like the cleaning was done “around”. If you moved the rugs some sand would come out, and I found some hairs in the shower. However, I discussed it with the manager who made sure it won’t happen again.

We absolutely loved our stay in this chalet. It is absolutely beautiful here, the chalet itself has everything you might need. There is a cool and inviting living area with aircon, a fan, tv, table, chairs, bean bags and settee. Kitchen has all cooking facilities and a fridge/freezer. Bathroom with shower and also a washing machine. Bedroom with aircon, fan, super comfy bed. Outside is a bbq area with table and chairs. The resort here is amazing, pools are fabulous, snorkelling is outstanding, there is a long jetty into the beach from where you can swim alongside the reef. The atmosphere here is totally holiday. Whilst staying in the chalet you are able to use all of the resort facilities - pools, clubs, jetty, beaches whilst doing so at a fraction of the price of booking direct. We came in a taxi armed with shopping supplies and it all worked perfectly. There are a few shops but mostly giftshops, al few also sell water, fizzy, biscuits and crisps but all at very inflated prices. Our hosts were friendly and welcoming. We hope to come back and will stay longer next time.

It's not really a criticism of this chalet but just to note that the shops inside the resort are much more expensive than outside - 35 egp for a 1.5 litre bottle of water. Also the taxis booked here are about 800 egp to the nearest shopping mall. A Careem taxi will cost 80 egp (about 2.5 euros, Careem is a taxi app like Uber). It's probably easiest to catch the free resort bus down to the entrance (they run every 20 minutes) and then catch a Careem taxi from there. Other than that, this place is amazing.

Fantastic location, good place but the hosts, Army and Mary are so helpful and kind. Whatever the chalet may lack, the hosts more than make it up with their kindness. Highly recommended. Book this as your first stop and plan the rest with Mary.
