Ortigia Ancient House

The apartment is in an historic building in the centre of Ortigia and within easy walking distance to everything. It’s in a perfect location, and has been renovated lovingly with lots of attention to detail. The architectural accents are wonderful; thick rough stone walls, accented tiles and other ancient artefacts. Spacious, safe and very secure, the apartment was very well equipped and had everything we needed. Beds were comfortable and the outdoor patio is lovely. Having two bathrooms was great (although because there are no windows, they were a bit dark). The host, Ettore, was lovely; very helpful and responsive to our inquiries. He met us at the apartment to help with baggage, hand over keys and explain how things worked. We had a great stay.

There is not much ventilation so there is a slight damp and mustiness due to its location at the bottom of the building. We had to dry bathroom towels outside.

Fantastic home away from home. What really stands out are the resources and kitchen utensils of high quality, unlike too many AirBnb's with insufficient and cheap or broken kitchen utensils. The house is very thoughtfully decorated...beautiful interior design. Owner is lovely and provides an excellent greeting and induction for guests. Very helpful.

Nothing. We will return. Perhaps a TV in the main bedroom would be great.

Beautiful apartment, immaculately decorated. Lots of lovely finishing touches with real character. From the spotlit niches to the 3000 year old Greek floor surface, this place is wonderful. Ettore, our host, was so good and helpful. At one point we had a minor problem,he immediately drove for an hour to sort it out! The location couldn't be more central in Ortigia. All in all we can't recommend it enough!!

Host was wonderful! We loved the location and could walk to everything. The private patio/ courtyard was wonderful.

The architectural features of the property were amazing as well as the building’s history. The location was excellent and the property very well appointed.

As mentioned by most there is a dampness and musty smell but one must consider the structure and age of the building. Also we found the internet was very unstable which would be our only negative.

The only thing of note was the slight mustiness due to its location at the bottom of the building so didn’t get direct sunlight when we were there.

It was a great mix of history and modern amenities. No issues and excellent introduction by the host. Central location! Easy walk to restaurants, grocery, and shopping
