Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und wurden von Helen bestens versorgt. Eine sehr herzliche Atmosphäre. Jederzeit wieder. Efkaristo poli :)

Fontana Leone in Spili hat eine wunderbare Übernachtung geboten mit allem Komfort, den man sich wünschen kann. Im Kühlschrank waren 2 Getränkeflaschen (Wasser und Saft) deponiert. Es erwartete uns ebenfalls leckeres kretisches Selbstgebackenes. Zum orthodoxen Osterfest wurden wir mit Ostereiern und kretischem Ostergebäck überrascht. Die Gastgeberin war sehr sehr herzlich. Restaurants, Cafés, Lebensmittelgeschäfte, Bäcker, ... sind fußläufig zu erreichen. Für den Ort und seine Sehenswürdigkeiten sollte man sich Zeit nehmen. Die Lage von Fontana Leone in Spili ist ein guter Ausgangspunkt, wenn man in den Bergen wandern und auch die schönen Dörfer ringsum ansehen möchte. Die geschützten Tulpen- und Orchideenstandorte liegen keine 4km mit dem Auto oberhalb von Spili Richtung Gerakari entfernt mit Blick auf den Ida; eine Wanderung von Spili aus, ist empfehlenswert. Mindestens einen Ausflug dorthin ist sowohl für interessierte Laien als auch Profibotaniker überaus lohnenswert. Wir waren Anfang April 2026 dort. Nicht zu vergessen - unbedingt mal in die Luft schauen und nach Geiern, Gänsegier sehr häufig, Ausschau halten - auch in Spili von Fontana Leone aus.

Petites suggestions: Poser des crochets pour les habits à l’entrée de l’appartement Et ajouter une lampe de chevet à l’étage et une autre dans le salon ( lumière douce) qui ne dérange pas les personnes qui dorment à l’étage.

The apartment is completely new, equipped with everything needed even for a longer stay, including a washing machine and a comfortable mattress. It is spotlessly clean. It is in a good location for exploring this part of the island, since the most beautiful beaches in the south (Preveli, Triopetra, Kalypso, and many others) are 30 minutes away, Rethymno is 40 minutes away, and the Moni Arkadi Monastery is 50 minutes away. The town of Spili itself is very charming, with high-quality spring water in the center, tavernas, and shops offering local high-quality products (soaps, honey, olive oil, herbs). What I especially loved was the sweet host, who was very friendly and kind – we had a really nice connection and felt the true Greek motherly hospitality.

We had a nice time in Fontana Leone. The owners are very friendly and hospitable. The apartment is modern and well equipped. The location is good if you want to explore the beautiful beaches Matala, Preveli, Damnoni, Triopetra and many more.
