Sunset View Apartment - 22

Location is great, the property was very clean and had everything we needed. The roof terrace was a great space.

There was nothing we didn’t like. There are some areas that need a bit of DIY and could do with a bit more shade on the terrace

Location is excellent. Secure parking on site. Roof terrace is large with great views of the sea and of the town. 3 of the 4 bedrooms, the kitchen, the living room and two bathrooms are on the first floor (that’s up one flight of stairs). 4th bedroom is up on the next floor and beside the door out to the roof terrace which has sun loungers, a picnic table and a set of outdoor table and comfy chairs. Claudia was very attentive with any issues we brought to her attention and acted on them straight away. One bedroom has two single beds, the other three have standard (4’6”) double beds. The place was very clean. Kitchen small but well furnished with plenty of bits and pieces like salt, pepper, oils, dishwasher tablets, washing powder etc. There is a dining area on the 1st floor, located between the two sets of stairs. The apartment has its own front door and there is a key safe which we found very handy. There are small balconies on most of the rooms. We had two small dogs with us and the roof terrace was a great plus for us. We spent a lot of time there when weather permitted. There is a small Spar supermarket close by which we used a lot. We thoroughly enjoyed the month we spent there. It was a great house for us, we loved our time there and hope to return next year. Thanks Claudia.

The facilities at the property were good as was the location - about a 25 minute walk from the strip and 5 mins from both the Old Town and Beach. The apartment was relatively clean when we arrived, just a few scuff marks and a dirty flannel left in the bathroom. Also the rooms were big and spacious, with plenty of space for the ten of us staying. The roof terrace was a nice feature but could do with more seating for larger groups.

Overall, I think this stay had the potential to be really good. We were impressed by the apartment when we arrived, but unfortunately our experience with the host put a sour note on the trip. Upon arrival we were asked for €500 cash deposit, which Claudia would come back for the next day to allow us to all visit the cash machine. After she left, I text her to ask whether it would be possible to do a credit card hold to ensure that both herself and her flat and our money would be protected. This was met with a lengthy text message about glasses being broken and the apartment being left dirty by previous guests. When she returned the next day, three of us wanted to ask some questions about the deposit - whether it could be paid by credit card hold, how would it work specifically (for e.g. if a glass was broken, how much would be deducted, would we have to wait at check in for all glasses to be counted etc), and why it wasn’t mentioned as a booking policy on the apartment details. We remained calm and respectful throughout the conversation, emphasising that we loved her apartment, didn’t want to damage it, and would have been happy to pay the damage deposit if it was a booking policy and our money was protected. Claudia became quite heated, threatened to kick us out the next day, before eventually coming to the decision that she would complain about us to booking.com and not take any money for a deposit. We came away from the conversation worried and confused, but after a phone call with booking.com’s lovely customer services, we were reassured that there was no damage deposit policy for her property, not to pay her any money and to stay until our original departure date.

Great location near the beach and old town. Rooftop terrace is fantastic.
