"Exceptional"

10.0

Everything was nice. It was clean and neighborhood was quiet.

The backyard may need to be treated for mosquitoes they were on attack mode. The mattress was a little too soft for me I like a firm mattress due to my sciatic nerve issue.

"I had a relaxing stay at Upscale. I highly recommend this property."

9.0

Leon & Sharon are kind, easy-going people, who were very gracious when I called them at 10 pm with questions. The property is a quaint, well appointed townhouse that 1s immaculate. It is 5-minutes by taxi to Johns Hopkins. There isn't much in the surrounding neighborhood, though, I did see a lot of positive reviews for nearby restaurants. I look forward to the opportunity to stay at the Upscale Townhouse again.

The mattress was l little too soft for me.

"Very poor"

2.0

The interior was recently renovated despite its location among dilapidated or boarded up buildings (ghetto).

Advertising is very misleading about being a "luxurious" townhouse. It is located in one the worse or poorer sections of Baltimore among other dilapidated buildings. The people at booking.com responded that "it is a matter of perspective," but there is no mistaking a ghetto. Obviously, this property was purchased by investors as a fixer upper for rental income. The neighborhood is a place for construction workers to gather after work to smoke marijuana and drink beer/water, across the street from the townhouse while talking until they go home later for dinner. Expand the attached photo below to see the guy rolling a marijuana joint to smoke. It is definitely NOT a family friendly neighborhood. I was worried about our car being parked on a public street all night as there was a lot of activity in the area. The HVAC system does not work well for the upstairs bedrooms as it was hot while the downstairs was cool. Either there is a problem with the ductwork or it is an undersized HVAC unit for the two-story townhouse. The Kuerig coffee maker was broken as it leaked water all over the counter, which was disappointing to find out so early in the morning. Do yourself a favor and AVOID this property, especially, if you are traveling with young kids or you have any concerns about your safety. If you are young, adventurous and are willing to take some risks, and like to party, this is your kind of place. Unfortunately, the advertising is misleading and took advantage of my ignorance about Baltimore's neighborhoods. If you are a tourist, do yourself a big favor and stay in a hotel near downtown (inner harbor area) or in the trendier Canton neighborhood (off of Boston and O'Donnell Streets) with lots of nice restaurants, shops, and SAFER boutique hotels. For future trips, I will research high crime nieghborhoods of future destinations for avoidance.

"Really well decorated and comfortable appartment but travel to harbour area & John's Hopkins pricy."

7.0

Thanks for the welcome wine but was then difficult to find somewhere to shop for food etc.

Information on travel and access to centre of town other than Uber etc would have been good. Battery level was poor in door alarm and air conditioning unit so not as easy to use as it might have been.
