This was a delightful apartment. The windows overlooking the gardens brightened my stay. The property was in a great location- within walking distance of restaurants and the beach. The owner and staff were very helpful.

"The host is excellent - the rest is out of their control."

Great location, the building's complex's architecture. I wouldn't be this critical if I were on vacation, but we specifically wanted to buy one of the Units in this building.

First and foremost, it looks all nice in pictures, but the building/sidewalks/stairs need a powerwash badly. It seems like a management thing. The whole Power Inverter thing is an issue. Yes, a little inverter powers some essentials during load shedding. This seems to be an overall issue even at more higher-end places. Everyone needs to get an inverter; how much power it provides is up to the owner and granted for a rental with relatively short load shedding twice daily, averaging two hours. In other parts of the Country, it's much worse than the Western Cape. I suppose if you don't know or don't expect anything like that, you're up for a rude awaking. Also, generally, the workmanship of all buildings is poor. Even in newer constructions, you'll see cracks in the foundation. It reminds me of Construction in Spain/Portugal/Southern Italy. Well, this is a generalized issue and not specific to the unit. I went on a tangent. We had a real problem with the Jewish school being next to the building. Not that it's Jewish, I would say the same for any school. The noise is intolerable when you expect quiet. We stayed the weekend., so I was hoping not for that. But during Shabbat, the constant singing and prayers are a lot to take in. Also, you can stay anywhere, and noise is a huge problem. Everywhere are tile floors, and everything acts like an echo chamber. People don't think it's necessary to put felt on chairs, dragging them, and very little carpeting doesn't help. You can hear the upstairs neighbor's toilet flushing, talking, and TV. It's bad unless you don't care about these things. Very few people stayed in the building (4 blocks), so I can only imagine the chaos during the high season.
