Sharing a bathroom not a problem at all just preference

The place and host were great. It's very convenient, close to shops and restaurants in the area. There is a MyCiti bus stop is a few minutes away, which makes it easy to get around. The room is very comfortable.

Great location. The neighborhood was super safe, to the point that I felt ok wandering out for a sunset walk a few times, and relatively close to the water. Load shedding wasn’t that bad, and the wifi worked pretty consistently. The shower had new fixtures and usually had hot water. The mattress was comfortable enough.

The host. Cary seems like a nice enough person, but it’s pretty clear she hates having to rent her room out and only people who aren’t planning on using it are welcome. The stress I had staying here didn’t even come close to making the cheaper price worth it. There is not one dog, but two, and they bark and jump on you constantly, in addition to urinating all over the floor, the rugs and possibly your shoes if you forget to bring them into your room. Speaking of dog urine, that is the cleanest part of this place. Be ready to be greeted by a feces-covered toilet (literally, I don’t want to know if it was human or animal), trash-covered balcony and a moldy washer (again, literally). I read previous reviews and Cary’s responses and thought, “Yeah sure, I could talk to her about it,” but beware: if you try to, she will lash out (man is it scary!) and tell you that “you’re not welcome here, just leave my home because I like things to be chill.” Unfortunately, getting a last minute place in Cape Town is near impossible—I hope you have airline miles saved up. Luckily, Cary let me out leave early after I called booking.com for help. So there is that.

The property is perfectly located in the heart of Greenpoint. Close to a cute coffee shop and the main road with main attractions. Internet was great and hospitality from the host was good.

I think the check-in process could be improved upon. I also think it would have been nice to know that there is a pet in the house, that was not explicitly stated on the property profile. The geyser/shower situation resulted in me having one or two cold and luke warm showers.
