Villa Marenosta

1. The view over the bay area. 2. Private terrace. 3. The owners were very kind and nice. We got some sweets, water, and a bottle of wine as welcome gifts. 4. Clean place. Exceptional mattress. The washing machine where we could wash our clothes. 5. Quiet place, outside the city. This is how we like Greece when spending our holiday on an island.

1. The chosen room was rather small. 2. In my personal opinion, the setup of the room is not the right one. Access to bathroom done through the kitchen. Additionally, the window from the bathroom was not working. 3. We were not expecting to clean the room by ourselves (we were given new towels and bed sheets, but we had to change the bed,etc.). 4. Overall, we consider the room was overpriced since we had to do all the cleaning during our stay.

This is an overdue review... We booked villa Marenosta to stay during our visit in Syros. It looked nice and the reviews were very good. From our side we confirm that the reviews reflect reality, we were delighted that we booked this place, although I had second thoughts in the beginning because it is located a few kilometers outside Ermoupolis. The villa was really nice and the view is awesome. We were a bit unlucky because it was very windy during our stay and we could not enjoy it more having our breakfast or an aperitif... The room has a kitchenette equipped with everything one needs to cook a proper meal. Outside the villa there is a big space where you can park your car and a small garden. Last but not least, the hosts. They are both amazing, they welcomed us with handmade lemonade and a big smile, they gave us information about the island and when we left they gave us a nice little gift to remember our stay at villa Marenosta that is now part of our living room. All in all, an awesome place to stay, next time we visit Syros we will book the same place.

The place can host 2+1 persons, as there is a master bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room, therefore the best arrangement is to be booked by a couple. The kitchenette is well equipped but there is very little space for a person to cook. We only used the fridge to store food and drinks and the microwave oven for warming up food. As the rooms are located a few kilometers outside Ermoupolis, that requires to use your vehicle every time you want to go out and consequently a) to find a parking space in Ermoupolis and b) the driver to be cautious about alcohol consumption. None of these was a problem in our case, but it could be for others.

Our hosts were very friendly, helpful and welcoming and spoke good English. They even offered to collect us from the port. A welcome drink and snacks were also offered and upon leaving, a little memento. So thoughtful! The apartment was spotless and very well equipped. The view from our villa was beautiful. To enjoy Syros you need to hire a car, which we planned ahead of time, so that you can travel to fantastic beaches, some of which are very sheltered if the wind becomes strong. The car is also useful to visit lovely restaurants outside Ermoupoli and particularly to travel from the villa into town. My wife and I would highly recommend Marenosta and we have travelled the world staying in all classes of accommodation.
