Canal Side Retreat - 2 Bedroom Apartment

Very clean, nice views over the canal

Basically it's not clean (have photos to back this up) - dust everywhere (floor, door jams, cupboards etc,) - freezer not clean - had a used pack of sausages in one drawer along with a load more bits of food - fridge (same as freezer - you should throw out unused items) - bin was disgusting - lift the bag out and it was full of "food debris", clearly had been there for a while - dish rack on draining board has mould on all the feet - oven - just disgusting - needs a clean - general - crisps in the armchair, crumbs on the wooden chairs, empty packets in the cupboards - towels - whilst smelled clean had bleach marks on them and were threadbare and worn Summary - would have expected someone to do more than just change the beds and run the hoover partially over the carpets Everything needs an update - everything looks tired - would take one or two tins of paint to freshen up as it looks grim and mucky - why are there only 3 bowls (mismatched) in a 4 bed apartment - only 2 dessert spoons!! - cutlery stained and grubby - bed in main room has a big dip in the middle - extractor fan in bathroom not working - cracked floor tiles and missing grout everywhere Other - so noisy as on the main road - at £130 per night would have expected a lot more - I've used recent trips for comparison - feel really let down - as I say £130 per night should get you a certain level of guaranteed comfort and cleanliness - and it isn't exactly cheap - in it's current state it's not a holiday let

Excellent communication, lovely location and very comfortable

No spare parking permit so had to contact owner to get parking ticket revoked

The apartment was modern

It was dirty, obviously hadn’t been cleaned or bedding changed. The bed linen was soiled. Kitchen bin encrusted with debris and smelly. Worktops smeared with crumbs, hairs and dirt in the bathroom, toothpaste stains on mirror. Mugs and cutlery stained and mismatched. Towels stained. We phoned owner who said he would contact cleaner and ring back but there were clean sheets in airing cupboard. We looked at them, all screwed up and looking grubby. Went to local supermarket and bought sheets and towels and changed beds ourselves. Owner sent text later that night suggesting he could come and clean at 9.30 in the morning. We declined as would be getting ready to go to a wedding and didn’t want a strange man cleaning around us in a very small flat. We paid for three nights but left after two, it was a very uncomfortable visit and thankfully we were out most of the time. We have requested a refund from the owner for at least one night and complained to Booking.com but heard nothing from either to date. We have stayed in many properties all over Europe but never come across this situation before.

Location was excellent. Apartment was excellent.

A nice, spacious apartment in a good location, overlooking the canal. A short walk down the towpath and you were at the estuary, with a couple of good pubs and great views over the water. The place was comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen, and parking at the property was very good. Communication with the hosts was simple and straightforward. I was there for two nights and it served my purposes very well.

The place is on quite a busy road, which is noisy during the day if the windows are open, but much quieter at night.

The Apartment was very clean and spacious, the hosts were easy to contact. The location was excellent. Will deffo return
