Apartment in Marrakesh, Gueliz

It is supposed to be the best area in Marrakech but I chose a wrong weather

The apartment was very nice and clean also it is located only couple of minutes away from the main city centre. Host was also very helpful, replied back to our message straight away.

Tea and coffee pot was empty, would have been better if they had provided some tea and coffee.

It was very easy to collect keys as the lovely caretaker Lahcen greeted us and showed us to the apartment Property is in a good location

Lots of issues within the apartment: At no point, did it state on booking.com that payment was made at the apartment. We arrived at the apartment to be told payment needs to be made via cash or paypal. As tourists who have just entered the country, we definitely did not have that kind of cash Apartment was advertised as having an indoor pool. No where on the booking does it state it is closed for half of the year so that was a big disappointment We got into the apartment Friday and as a group of 4 we were left with 2 toilet rolls for 5 nights On the Saturday, I requested for more to Which the owner said they couldn’t until tomorrow because there is no maid I had to then push for toilet roll!! As we did not have enough for our 5 nights and the kind caretaker dropped some off Lahcen was great, however, did not understand fluent English so it was hard to communicate. When I messaged the apartment owner he responded “Call Lahcen mate, I can’t keep assisting you from here” The apartment is spacious and has a lot of potential but unfortunately is so poorly maintained 1. Advertised as 2 toilets however, 1 was broken 2. One sink in the bathroom does not drain and previous dirt kept coming up 🤮 3. Really poor wifi 4. I specifically asked about Netflix as we had a young adult with us- was told they had Netflix but it didn’t even work 5. Curtain Pole in the second bedroom was broken and hanging on by a thread. Had to sleep the other way as risk of it falling on a head! 6. Towels all dirty with blood stains (I took pictures) 7. No duvet covers on bedding?? Again blood stains all over- honestly quite disgusting

Ayoub is fast to respond and also helpful. The apartment is spacious, calm and comfortable. I will definitely rent it next visit to Marrakech

The bedding and towels were clean and microwave, cooking hob, washing machine, kettle and showers were all functioning. There was a comfortable lounge area and WiFi was generally good. The balconies were amazing too as they were at the front and back of the property so you could soak up the sun in the morning and afternoon. The building manager was waiting outside even though I arrived later than expected and took me straight up and held my bags so I was greeted warmly.

Upon arrival I was told I had to pay by cash which wasn’t made clear and the building manager was demanding cash. I contacted the owner and he agreed to a bank transfer instead. The price advertised was £221.57 for 5 nights but the owner said I have to pay £230. The next day the cleaner came in and was adamant I didn’t pay even though I did and was standing at the doorway whilst contacting the owner who later confirmed I had paid. This would’ve been avoided if the owner communicated beforehand. The main bathroom’s shower had bad drainage so whilst showering I had to simultaneously use the floor squeegee to avoid water leaking out onto the bathroom floor. There was no shower gel, soap, shampoo, washing up liquid or washing machine detergent available and this was only provided after nagging the cleaner. Cutlery and plates were limited. The master bedroom sink was blocked and had hairs in it when I arrived and there was water on the floor and I had to again call the cleaner to unblock this and dry the floor. The cleaner rang the doorbell most days in the morning (probably to nag me again) which was not ideal. The lighting in the hallway and passage was quite dim and bulbs needed changing. Toilet paper was also limited and none of the bathrooms had spare rolls. The toilet near the entrance had no working light or window so it was pitch black inside during the day and night. Finally, although the place was clean, there was a lot of dust on the tables and furniture and some isolated areas were dirty such as plug sockets. A deeper clean would be nice.

some furniture is damaged and the showers in the 2 bathrooms leak and don't work well. also in the master bedroom beware of the bed because it is protruding and dangerous and if you touch against it you will hurt yourself as happened to me
