Central Apartment Newcastle

Central and Clean.

Great facilities, the apartment was so clean and homely.

It was close tk everything and the kids really enjoyed it.

There was lift so carrying the pram up and down the stairs was not fun.

I booked this appartment hoping for a relaxing and comfortable base in Newcastle to celebrate the end of term with my teenage daughter and her friend. It didn't start well with dirty stairwell complete with cigarette butt. Inside, the appartment was dirty. The walls were generally grubby, and wierdly there were handprints in places, very offputting. In the bedrooms, the bed linen was washed out and thin, with a stain on on of the duvet covers, there was hair in 2 of the beds. The dressing table had dirt and debris under the glass and other furniture was cheap and grubby. There was mould around the windows and you could barely see through the windows - it looked like they hadn't been washed in quite some time. In the living room, the furniture had visible stains and there was a cigarette burn in the sofa. Kitchen was just about ok, but the dishes didn't look particularly clean. Bathroom was ok, but bizarrely there was a plaster stuck to the door. My daughter had taken off her shoes and the bottom of her socks were black after 10 minutes. We called the owner straight away who said they'd try to find an alternative apartment - I believe they own a number of properties in the area. They couldn't and offered to send a cleaner round. However, I pointed out that the problems went beyond surface cleanliness and the apartment really needed a deep clean and overhaul. At this stage, we were very disappointed and there was no chance that we could have relaxed and enjoyed the stay. Therefore, we had to pack up and go home, end of term celebration ruined. The apartment was not as shown in photos on booking.com. I know it was inexpensive, but that does not negate the need for the accommodation to be clean. I have asked for a refund but have been refused.

It was in a great location, had everything you needed in terms of towels, kitchen utensils etc, had a spacious living room and kitchen and was mainly/generally clean and tidy. The beds were comfortable and the bedding was clean and very nicely presented with pillows/cushions and a blanket.

There was a bit of a smell in the room marked as “private” which had an old freezer in it and there was quite a bit of dirt behind the toilet in the bathroom which i found out when reaching for a roll of toilet that had fallen and it was dirty. The entrance/lobby to the building was a wee bit run down. Some of the blind cords didn’t work/were broken and one of the windows in the bedroom (2 single beds) didn’t open as the latch didn’t have a button.
