Gemütliche Maisonettewohnung mit Dachterrasse am Schloß

Die Lage der Wohnung zentral am Schlossplatz in Oldenburg kann punkten. Ideal, um zu Fuß die Stadt zu erkunden.

Die Wohnung ist insgesamt recht abgewohnt und veraltet. Vieles müsste erneuert werden, z.B. an der Duschtüre die Dichtungsleisten. Sie sind komplett dreckig und vergammelt. Der Teppichboden unter dem Wohnzimmertisch (Kiste) ist schmutzig. Es liegen kleine Stückchen drauf und barfuß möchte man diesen Teppich nicht begehen. Das Sofa hat Flecken. Es lädt daher auch nicht zum bedenkenlosen Sitzen ein. Das Dachgebälk ist staubig. Offensichtlich haben Vorbewohner schon mit den Fingern im Staub gemalt. Zum Bett im oberen offenen Schlafraum (mit der Samba-Treppe begehbar): Leider ist die Liegefläche nach links abschüssig, d.h. man liegt schräg darin. Ich war allein in dem Bett und konnte mich auf die rechte Seite legen. Das ging dann. Aber was tut man, wenn man zu zweit darin läge? Das Bett im anderen Schlafzimmer ist recht schmal. Die Bettwäsche etwas zerknittert, jedenfalls nicht glatt. Ich möchte nicht wirklich nachdenken, warum das so ist In der Wohnung ist zu einem großen Teil (Eingangsbereich mit Treppe, Schlafzimmer) ein dick-floriger brauner Teppich verlegt. Also nichts für Allergiker und auch nicht hygienisch zu reinigen. Der zu der Wohnung gehörige Parkplatz ist ca. 10 Gehminuten entfernt. Für eine 2-stündige Verlängerung des Check-out wurden uns 30 € berechnet (also statt um 10.00 Uhr haben wir die Wohnung um 12.00 Uhr verlassen). Angeblich müsste man durch unsere verspätete Abreise mehr Putzpersonal (?!) einsetzen, um die Wohnung zu reinigen. Die Rechnung des Vermieters über 30 € kam vorab per E-Mail und musste sofort beglichen werden. Ausgesprochen störend waren auch die täglichen Anrufe und E-Mails des Vermieters, ob alles in Ordnung sei. Erster Anruf ging bereits bei der Anfahrt ein. Sogar sonntags (wir waren gerade bei Bekannten zum Kaffee-Besuch) wurde ohne erkennbaren Anlass angerufen, wie zufrieden man sei. Das geht gar nicht.

the place was beautiful, wonderful location, cozy, great vibe! Very clean, the city is wonderful too. I wish I could give it a 10 out of 10, but this is only for someone who likes early mornings, because...

...I couldn't sleep in because of pigeons! At 5am they become unbearable and it's impossible to sleep any longer than that. I would love to come here again, because the place is really outstandingly beautiful, but I couldn't sleep. I'm sure there is a way to secure the roof to prevent pigeons from sitting on it.

Location is perfect - right in the center. And it’s very quite place at the sqme time. The apartments are very stylish, well equipped and comfortable. Host is easy to reach. Highly recommended.

The apartment was ideal for our family of three. It is a small but charming little attick apartment in an old house, but it has everything you need. Our son had his own room which he was super happy about. The kitchen was well equipped and I really appreciated the big walk in closet. The location is great. You are right at the edge of the (pedestrian) city center and the beautiful Schloss Park is just across the road. You can easily walk everywhere, but in case you are traveling by car (as we were) there is a parking place reserved for this apartment some 5 minutes walk away. The communications from the family were outstanding with very clear guidance given in English. We had an issue with one of the door locks and our call was answered and problem solved straight away. Overall this was a very positive experience and I can highly recommend the apartment for a group of three.

Honestly there isn't much we didn't like. But here are a couple of things to be aware of... As I said, the apartment is at the attick of an old house. This means that you will need to climb some pretty steep and narrow stairs. If you're traveling with lots of heavy luggage, this may mean quite a workout. Also, while the location is very central, it is quiet most of the time. However, it may make sense to check out the event calendar of the city of Oldenburg as they do host concerts and other events at the Schlossplats directly in front of the apartment. In our case, they had the Kultursommer concerts till 10 pm daily. Also keep in mind is that this is an attick apartment without airconditioning, so on hot summer nights it may get warm. All part of the charm of an old house but good to keep in mind. Finally, it is great that the apartment comes with a parking place, but it maybe a bit difficult to find - even with the address provided. You will be driving through a very narrow alley into a courtyard of an apartment building. But once you find your way there, the parking place is clearly marked :)

Sliding door entrance locking system; Shower unreliable temperature ( several times freezing cold); noisy pigeons on the roof; worried that pigeons come into apartment through open rooftop windows (you need these open on hot days)
