Location, view, overall feeling of the space

Nothing.

It’s the most poorly maintained place we have ever stayed in. - One side of the crib was broken - The door knob to the bedroom was missing when we entered the place, later found it in one of the bedroom drawers, put it back but it was not at all stable - The shower head holder was chipped. Because of the chipped holder, the shower head fell and hit my husband. Luckily he wasn’t hurt - Light above the stove was falling apart - Bathroom was very smelly - The host was extremely unresponsive. I sent a message via Booking.com asking about how to connect to wifi. Never got any reply. We later figured out ourselves - When communicating via WhatsApp, the host couldn’t be bothered to write in English. They always wrote back in Portuguese

How close is from the beach

There was no communication with the owners, I am still waiting for their reply or even an apology for never replying, was dirty, the blinds were broken so all light was coming in, curtains nearly felt off but I temporarily fixed it, only two toilet rolls for two days for two people wasn’t enough, they left laundry behind (I know some do) but was never adviced about it, the keys don’t work and neither of us could manage to open the door, took a while every time. Really disappointed for the price, staid in nicer, cleaner, with better service, and things working, in a MUCH cheaper price.

Lovely apartment, great location with a lovely restaurant just downstairs. Very communicative and helpful host. I would recommend anyone to stay at Refugio Praia da Rocha, whether it be a family trip or friends holiday. Thank you so much Rosa.

This apartment was a dream for us. We felt like home immediately after we entered the place and we did not want to leave. If I wouldn´t have supposed to be back home, we would have stayed longer for sure. Communication was great, we had no problem. The best part about this apartment is its location, balcony and the views.

Nothing, everything was perfect. If we go back to Portugal, we would stay again for sure.

The staff was horrible. The lady did not want to wait to explain where to find the garage door and the key to the flat, saying very rudely that she had other things to do. Then she insulted me all the most ugly names you can possibly imagine. I refused to stay after being so badly treated and the lady refused even a partial refund although I ended up not staying there. Then she also refused to give me the complaint book after me asking 4 times. This is considered a crime! Not only they very rude, but they were also greedy and disrespectful of the portuguese law. I never had such a bad experience in over 12 years of using Booking.com. Run away!

It's a very comfortable apartment, a really nice bedroom, a great TV, a well equipped kitchen, a lovely balcony! Close to the sea, restaurants, and shops (we had a car). The weather in the first week of January was fabulous. The sunshine entered the balcony before 10 a.m., which made my breakfast fantastic. Our son was sleeping on the couch and worked great for him and for us.

Unfortunately, the smell of cigarettes when we came in was unbearable. The floor was still wet, and it wasn't hoovered. The owner was very apologetic about it, saying there was a prohibited New Year's Eve party just before we arrived, which they didn't expect, and didn't have enough time to clean it up. Also, more clean towels would make it so much better. One set of towels for 9 days wasn't enough. Personally, I didn't like the smells coming out from the restaurant just downstairs from the apartment.
