Dear Booking.com Customer Support, I would like to make a formal complaint regarding the homestay I recently booked through Booking.com. I travelled with my son to attend my sister's wedding and specifically chose this homestay because it was close to our church and convenient, especially when returning late at night after wedding-related events. Upon arrival, I found the property to be extremely dusty and not cleaned to an acceptable standard. There was dust throughout the house, including on the furniture, coffee table, decorative items, artificial plants, and other surfaces. The water filter area and sliding door tracks had thick layers of dust. There was also hair visible in multiple areas of the property. In addition, the ironing board was in very poor condition. Both my son and I have asthma. I informed the host about our condition and explained that proper cleaning was important because dust can trigger asthma attacks. I immediately reported the cleanliness issues and expected a thorough cleaning of the property. The host only arranged for vacuuming. I was patient and gave more than five hours for the cleaning to be completed while we were away. However, when we returned, the overall condition remained poor. Dust was still present on furniture, decorations, plants, the water filter area, and the sliding door tracks. It was clear that only minimal cleaning had been done and the property had not been properly maintained. As a result of the dusty environment, both my son and I experienced asthma symptoms. We are now unwell with fever and asthma attacks, which has caused significant distress and affected our stay. Unfortunately, we had no practical choice but to remain at the property. We were in town for my sister's wedding, it was already late at night, and changing accommodation at that stage would have been extremely difficult.
