Principal Plaza

It was a self contained apartment so breakfast was not included. The location was amazing, overlooking the Plaza Major.

Getting into the property was difficult with the keys in a lockbox at a different location and our inability to speak Spanish!

To be honest I was shocked at how good the location was: you overlook the main plaza in Salamanca. Absolutely beautiful. When we were there, an aerial ballet troupe practiced and performed in the plaza. The apartment is at the top of a corkscrew-like staircase. A very small elevator provides some relief. Well-decorated kitchen and bathrooms. Two of the beds are in the large loft accessible via the suspended staircase you see in others' pictures. The loft ceiling is half-high at places. Not a complaint, just warning you that if you sleep in the loft, to not stand at full height in the darkness unless you know where you are in the room. Don't ask me how I discovered this.

We were 3 couples between 50 and 70 years old. The employee refused to give us the keys unless we made a security deposit of €200, which would be returned within 7 days. The deposit was not clear from the advertisement. An absurd requirement to fulfill, we informed that we did not have an account in Europe to make a transfer, so how were we going to comply? After much insistence with the employee who was extremely rude, the employee told us to pay in cash and return it within 7 days. The question remains: How would I return it? Would she go to another country or would we have to return to Salamanca? I have been using booking for over 14 years and this has never happened, we paid and stayed on the street and the employee refused to refund the cost of the stay. And she exchanged messages via WhatsApp. :€

It was right at the plaza mayor

It was not clean, the floors were full of dust, the mattress were really old and deformed in the middle, we all had allergies at night while staying at bed, which means the mattresses had mites. We were eight people, so 2 of us had to sleep in a very uncomfortable and loud air mattress.
