Like you’re time travelling! Wonderful nostalgic interior but still comfortable enough. (Indoor) balcony was wonderful, especially during the afternoon with the sun beaming in.

We had some problems with check-in but it was dealt with by the host in a timely manner. TV failed to turn on until suddenly turning on by itself on the second day (but hey, everything was not perfect in Soviet times 😄)Unfortunately the host failed to inform us that the property would have no hot water during our stay. Although this was out of the hosts control it was a bit disappointing that we were not informed about this beforehand.

If you’re staying here, it’s because you’re looking for the authentic Soviet experience and this place is certainly unique and has bags of character. The location is good, close to the iconic Sea Boulevard and 20 minutes walk from the bus station.

The owner asked me to provide my arrival time in advance and give her 20 minutes’ notice of my arrival. I did both, and messaged again when I arrived at the property - no reply or acknowledgment to any of these. After standing outside in sub-zero conditions for 10 minutes, a neighbour happened to be coming in, who called the owner and ascertained that the key was in a keysafe by the main door. The only time the owner deigned to actually contact me personally rather than sending a template message was to claim she had given me this information already (she had not). The apartment is really cluttered and cleanliness could be better, especially the fridge, which had the weeks-old remnants of a previous tenant’s food, and the antique gas oven, which started billowing smoke when I turned it on due to the grease inside. Luckily (?!) the smoke alarm was in bits on the side, but the neighbours did notice and came to check if there was a fire. There was no toilet roll in the property, but I guess there were a lot of shortages in Soviet times.

Cosy place. Feel at home. Will def come back

Nice, clean apartment with a taste of times passed. Good for a longer stay. The town has beautiful historic buildings and a seaside promenade.

A nice experience with a unique design that you would only see if you made friends with pensioners from the Soviets who have not made changes from the Soviet era. But most important there was all needed extras for staying. Most importantly, all necessary extras were also available, gas stove, microwave, oven, iron, TV and Wifi.

I prefer harder beds, not so soft.
