Baštova apartment

The location

The property is large.

The property is extremely uninviting…. The building is surrounded by scaffolding at the moment of our stay, which resulted in us being unable to open the windows properly and get air into the apartment. The heat was stifling inside as a result, with no air conditioning. The noise outside is very loud well into the night. The entrance into the building advises to close the doors behind us as people tend to use the stairs to pee and vomit… not terribly inviting! If you can get over all these things, and are just looking for a place to crash in the middle of the Old Town where so much happens, with tons of restaurants, cafés, and souvenir shops, then this place is a good pick. But for us, it was a total miss.

The apartment was very modern and spacious, as well as being located in the centre of Bratislava, directly next to St. Michael’s Gate. The host also provided very clear instructions on how to check in to the property to ensure it went as smoothly as possible.

The property itself is beautiful, but was let down by quite a few factors unfortunately. The building was undergoing renovation on the exterior, which meant it was surrounded by scaffolding. With the soaring temperatures during our stay (around 32°c on average) this was absolutely suffocating with being unable to open any windows. We were not warned of this prior, nor the bar located directly underneath us. The bar was extremely loud and left a stench of cigarettes leading up the uninviting staircase to the apartment. Additionally, when construction workers surround the building, the least you would expect is a blind that isn’t see through. This meant we had to use one of the blankets supplied to cover up the window and prevent anybody from seeing us shower. Finally, the mattress was very hard and the pillows very flat, which lead to us not getting much sleep throughout our stay.

Location was central and the apartment was spacious. Modern furniture and full kitchen available to use

The bed was not the comfiest, and the towels could have been a better quality.

Nothing.

The washing machine was all day washing someone's laundry so we couldn't wash our own. There was some construction works going on and the curtains were transparent so there was zero privacy in the bathroom. Construction workers literally could see (and saw) right in the bathroom and in the shower. Zero privacy. Very disappointed.

Great apartment to stay. Very clean and right in the centre of everything.

2pm check in and the cleaner was still there at 2:30 when we arrived.

Property was excellent, location amazing.

Cleanliness is to be desired, toilet bin was not emptied, only half of toilet roll left. Found dust and hair on floor.
