The location for getting into the heart of Cheltenham is excellent.

The only tricky things about the apartment were the parking on the road (it's pot luck on availability and it's quite narrow with cars parked on both sides), and then the stone steps down. We did have elderly relatives with us and whilst we knew about the steps in advance, they are quite steep.

The apartment was clean, well arranged, modern kitchen appliances and beds were comfy.

The apartment is in the basement of the building whereas the photos might suggest that you will be getting a duplex home to yourself (that’s what we thought when making the booking) Dodgy CRM - RedKite (I would recommend also reading Paul’s review from July 24). I’m not sure whether the owner is aware about this but the CRM company first demands you a deposit of £200 security which was not mentioned at the time of booking and was waived off when booking dot com didn’t allowed them to include the payment link in the messages. I would highly recommend not sharing your email address directly with them as they blamed for ruining 6/8 towels post check out and was demanded a payment of roughly £35 through a third party website which was a complete surprise to me as we took extra care of everything during our entire stay and even washed the used towels before checking out. They won’t listen to your explanations and will demand payment anyways as this seems to be their way to make some extra bucks for their hosts. Please beware of this scam and avoid sharing any further details than what you already have via booking dot com

The flat has lots of cheltenham character and we enjoyed our stay more because of it. It has a very comfy sofa and very comfy beds, also the flat has High-quality fixtures and fittings.

Feels a bit too new, and a bit fragile. We were worried about marking furniture or damaging something. Also it was quite cold for us...coming from malaysia, however we only just realised we could turn on the heating just before we left. Parking is a bit tight as well. I would suggest visiting with a compact car.

Interior design excellent.

I was expecting seagull noise as per previous stays in Cheltenham, but there was none, which was a real bonus. And, there was no noise from the house above. So, no disturbances to sleep at all, apart from the duvet which was too warm. I removed it and it was fine. I appreciate quiet at night. The showers were very good. The welcome tin of home-made scones with clotted cream and jam was very welcome and a nice touch! High quality fixtures, fittings and decor.

the worst thing was the CRM agency. They are a semi-automated CRM, with standard messages in the guise of real people. Two days before the stay started they sent a message demanding £200 'security deposit' saying I should follow a link to an external site to make the payment by CC. It sounded like a scam. I reported to Booking.com but got no response. The link had been automatically removed by Booking.com and a warning was attached, so I ignored the demand. If this was genuinely from the CRM agent, it is very sharp practice. They should not be trying to extract money like this, which, I believe, is against Booking.com's values and rules, hence the link being removed. I found this quite upsetting. The agent is called Redkitehosts (more like Red Flag!), and also use hostaway.com to try to collect payments. Their raison d'etre appears to be to increase hosts revenues by dodgy means, e.g. by demanding extra payments for dubious reasons. I wonder if the actual host, Doug, realises what a bad impression RedKite give to guests? I also wonder if RedKite intercepts these comments and deletes them. Pity that there wasn't a separate lounge, which I've had in other properties nearby. 10 stone steps down could be tricky for some people. There were two lock boxes, so I didn't know which to try first! Door handle on bathroom was loose but door could be locked separately.
