Braganza House

We ended up staying in a different property because the apartment in Braganza House wasn't available at the last minute. The host kindly arranged with his friend / colleague for us to stay in an apartment which was in fact an upgrade on our expectations. The new host, Barry (the Blue Building by the Quayside shopping Mall in Portsmouth) was very kind in allowing us to stay at short notice. The apartment was spacious, clean, well kitted out and was a few minutes walk away from the Historic Dockyards and had a fantastic view The original host was very kind in meeting us at 11pm to hand over the keys, as we were traveling up late in the evening - we were very grateful for this

The news about the change of property was late in the day of traveling and involved a number of phone calls to confirm.

We were relocated to an alternative accommodation, which was further from our ideal location. It was handled well by the management

The accommodation wasn’t in our ideal location. There were lots of unpleasant stains on the living room carpet and sofa which put us off spending time in the apartment.

Location very close for city centre !

very dirty house and old utensils, one towel for 9 days, no toilet paper, smelly sheets and pillows, it looked like the house was abandoned. Note: he offered to clean it when I reported the dirt but I didn't accept it because it needs to be done first !

The place was clean, the house was nice, there was a smart TV in the bedroom, and another tv in the sitting room. It has a good location- close to Gunwarf Quays.

It was on the topmost floor, and there was no lift.

The property was beautifully clean, and comfortable. The bedding was clean and fresh.

Sadly, there were only 2 mugs for 4 adults. If I book a further stay, I would state I am disabled, as 4 flights of stairs proved difficult

Convenience to Guwharf Quays/Station/buses. View from apartment area was quiet.

Our apartment was on 3rd floor and not suitable for my aunt with mobility issues and sight problems (this is not mentioned on the booking.com site.) Bedding was smelly and pillows/ duvet needed washing or replacing. Some kitchen utensils where dirty, curtains in lounge were missing curtain hooks . Iron and ironing board were not usable . I mentioned all these to agents they were replacing iron!!

Location

The smell as we walked in was very off putting, it smelt a mixture of stale cigarettes, damp dirty dishcloths and air freshener. The living room especially smelt so much that I couldn’t sit in there. The kitchen is quite outdated, ironing board not fit for purpose. Outside the back door there was old beer bottle filled with cigarette ends. Its stated to use the shower mat to avoid slipping however there wasn’t one. Also states shower gel is provided but that was empty. I took my own so it didn’t matter to me. The wardrobe in the main room was filled with duvets so no room to hang your clothes. Also there was a high chair and clothes dryer in the bedroom, which i know I could have moved. But didn’t seem right place for them. Dirty curtains too. Its not stated prior to booking that the flat is on top floor, with no lift could be a problem for elderly etc. Entrance pad difficult to use as you have to be very quick putting the numbers in. To me i felt i was staying in housing association accommodation and to be honest the smell was the worst thing.

Due to health reasons the stairs were hard work. There are loads of kitchen essentials, would of liked more tea cups and baking trays. There is a leak under the sink when washing machine is on. Toilet seat doesn't stay up. These are just little things that can be fixed, and didn't effect our stay. We would love to come back next year if we could have a lower flat..
