We enjoyed our stay here in Ras El Bar. The apartment is right on the beach with a balcony overlooking the sea. We visited during the winter therefore there were no tourists, this added to the beauty of the place. The location is 15 minutes walk to the Nile side of Ras El Bar. Here you can experience the beautiful river view whilst enjoying tea and watching the small fishing boats pass by. Not to miss is the local fish cuisine! Here you can select the freshly caught fish you want to eat and watch it being cooked in the market. Next to the apartment was a small cafe, we would not recommend for food but the coffee and fresh juice was good. There are also small shops selling water and drinks next to the apartment, however a bigger market is a 15 minute walk away. The caretaker to the apartment was also very helpful in providing towels when we arrived and went out of his way to make sure we were settled into the apartment. Mohamed, the owner, was extremely attentive to our needs and helped organise trips including to the archaeology site near Tanis- San Al Hagar. Despite the distance by car this is well worth a visit and completely devoid of people (possible due to poor signage and the season). If you are interested in history there is also an extremely knowledgeable archeologist guide at the site but worth noting that tips are to be expected. Overall this is worth a visit to escape the hustle of busier Egyptian towns. There is a romantic charm to the area which seems untouched by tourists in the winter.

Although facilities were basic the place was clean and tidy. There is an oven for cooking and a fridge however we did not attempt to cook due to local food being cheap and delicious. Would definitely recommend eating fish in the local market! Poor soundproofing meant that you could hear building work being carried out especially late at night. There was no WiFi. It would benefit from this especially for foreign travelers. The location felt slightly remote away from main area however this was mainly due to visiting in winter. I have heard in the summer it is extremely busy.
