Beach Villas at Kahalu'u

We liked the proximity; two beaches are within walking distance and one is just across the street. Well cleaned.

The apartment could really use a refresh or just some TLC. Scuffed walls, screen falling off sliding door, cupboard door completely off hinges, fickle washer/dryer, dated decor and furniture.

Location was super convenient to beach, market etc. Loved the privacy and ease of being on the ground floor. Comfy beds. Really appreciated that coffee filters, laundry pods/dryer sheets, beach towels, coolers, were provided.

This was an excellent location right next to great snorkeling and away from the bustle of downtown. The condo itself was also great with lots of thoughtful amenities.

Location is EXCELLENT, one of the best snorkeling beaches just across the street! Condo was clean and very well kept.

Every thing we needed in the condo was there for our use from washing machine capsules to dryer sheets. Loved all of it.

This is a conveniently-located space across the road from a nice little beach where you can swim, snorkel and surf. The bed and linens are comfortable, the bathrooms are clean, and the atmosphere is peaceful. Hosts were kind enough to leave Kona coffee and tea for us on the kitchen counter, which was truly appreciated since our flight landed at 11pm. TRAVELLERS*NOTE: Airport car rental agencies don't respond to telephone enquiries and centralized call centers don't know anything. You DO NOT need to pay for an airport shuttle in the middle of the night (when most flights arrive). Airport car rental agencies DO NOT CLOSE at 10:30pm, as advertised; they wait until late-night flights arrive from Canada and beyond. Free parking for this condo only a few steps from the front door is an added plus. The kitchen is well-stocked and there's a KTA Grocery store 5 minutes away. Really appreciated the filtered water and ice dispenser in the fridge. There was an abundant selection of beach towels, flutter boards, water shoes and compact coolers to borrow. Kona is reasonably clean and we never tired of evening walks in town, but you need a car to get there from this condo. Black Rock Pizza and On-the-Rocks are nearby restaurants with great food and prices. Kealakekua Bay and Two-Step Beach are two outstanding snorkeling locations only minutes away. We did a comparison of local equipment vendors and found Kona Honu (across town) to offer the best equipment (rent or buy) at reasonable prices.

The TV was difficult to navigate in the living room. We might suggest that you dispense with the page-long instructions and simply provide an HDMI cable for easy hook-up to guest's laptop since most people have subscriptions to Netflix and the like. Only downside was the distance to explore the other side of the island, but you can't have everything. We truly enjoyed our time on The Big Island and learned a great deal about Hawaiian culture and history. That said, we likely will not return since we found the current Canada-US exchange rate, inflating travel expenses by almost 1.5x to be a budgeting challenge.

Convenient location just beside Kahalu'u Beach Park, which was a fantastic spot to snorkel at. The property was cosy and well maintained. Never faced any issue finding a parking lot too. As to the facilities, snorkel gear was provided at the property. There was also a kitchen to prepare/pack food before heading out for the day.

Great location to travel to wetter and drier sides of island and fairly close to pretty beaches. Variety of food stores and restaurants nearby and condo very comfortable and had all the beach equipment we needed. Would stay here again.
