APARTMENT POPS

The host was very thoughtful, accommodated us for 1h late arrival. The apartment was very nice and the host helped us adjust the heat for a more pleasant stay. We had a good time. We recommend this apartment!

The location is extremely central, short walking distance to a wealth of bars and restaurants. It's a decent-sized room, with a small kitchen. Low price and clean. The owner is friendly and accommodating, with good communication.

The ground-floor room is close to a fairly busy area with a few bars. There's very little soundproofing in the room, so you can hear a lot of noise from outside all through the night. While the windows have metal blinds and curtains, they still don't quite block out the bright spot light on the building opposite-this goes off on a sensor whenever there's slight movement outside, so expect a fair bit of flickering. There are also car headlamps, garbage trucks, etc. passing by every now and then. Inside, the noise from the boiler is also pretty loud whenever someone else in the property uses hot water. You can also hear movement from other parts of the building, footsteps, etc. This might not be too big an issue on its own, but paired with everything else, it was very noticeable. When we visited, the windows were being replaced, so there was a lot of exposed concrete and freshly laid plaster (this had yet to set) - which perhaps made the outdoor noise worse than normal. But, it also had the effect of making the room very damp. None of our towels had dried from the previous day, but also our clean clothes were damp too. I've worked in construction previously, and wet plaster/concrete, will generally have this effect. The room really shouldn't have been rented out in this condition. At the least, it should have had a dehumidifier installed. Despite having been travelling all day and awake for more than 30 hours by the time we went to bed in this apartment, neither of us were able to sleep properly at all during the night, with constant noise (ear plugs didn't help much) and also the light. In the end, we cancelled our second night and booked elsewhere. The kitchen was under-stocked in terms of utensils, so cooking would be a challenge. I do think once the windows are fixed up properly the room will be better in terms of dampness and outside noise.
