"Comfortable, happy, peaceful, idyllic"

10.0

The location is amazing, like stepping back in time to an earlier age and a safer, more peaceful world. Local people so kind and friendly, and the air is so clean and sweet smelling - something we noticed immediately coming as we do from agricultural North Cornwall. The accommodation is a beautiful little space to enjoy, so comfortable, cheerful and well equipped. Hosts are very friendly and welcoming. There's a lot to see in the village, including the beautiful St Leonards Church, and the Ann Healey Heritage Trail. There's even an outdoor library in the doorway of one of the houses, with a honesty box; between us hubby and I bought several books. A good place for gentle strolls as there's little danger of being run over by speeding traffic, unlike at home, and there is a lovely walk up behind the churchyard, too. This is a village where the residents clearly love and care for their environment, it is very special and appears to be a true community. From the peace and tranquillity you are very close to Glastonbury with its colour, bustle and energy. The contrast is lovely. We had a fantastic weekend and will certainly return again and again as we have found our 'home from home'.

"Great, overall. Not far from Glastonbury and other places worth visiting."

Given home made bread. Milk, eggs and other stuff provided FOC.

The location, unfortunately the local pub has closed. It was too hot to walk to the next nearest pub. We were in the middle of a heat wave.

"Perfect Somerset escape"

10.0

The Old General Store was a home in miniature, it was cosy and comfortable and the hosts had thought of everything from a hairdryer to cafetiere to an umbrella! The breakfast was fab - homemade bread, local eggs, fruit and milk, orange juice, yoghurt, marmalade. It was already in the fridge/bread bin when we arrived so we could have breakfast any time we wanted. The hosts were very friendly and helpful and were only too happy to provide more milk, juice, etc. The bathroom was fine - the shower was excellent. The location of the apartment was brilliant, right in the middle of the village and close to Glastonbury and Street. There's a lovely local heritage trail to follow and a great little second hand book stall outside one of the houses. The local people were all friendly and would stop for a chat. We will be back!

There was nothing we didn't like about this place - although parking was a bit of a lottery. It's all on the street so sometimes you have to park away from the cottage.

The most beautiful village full of history and charm. We had a super time at the Old General store, with freshly baked bread for breakfast! Visited the pop up pub and enjoyed music & food. Perfect location for visiting Glastonbury & Wells.

"A pleasant stay in a convenient location"

9.0

Friendly and caring hosts who, unlike AirBnB hosts who have dropped the second B from any deal, the kitchen here was thoughtfully and generously stocked.

It is small and very adjacent to the road.
