"Great place to stay in San Antonio with a very helpful host"

8.0

A great place to stay, slightly outside the center, but on walking distance. Lots of privacy and the host, Anthony, is extremely helpful, even brought me in his car to pick-up some food. As he lives in the same property, any questions are dealt with quickly. Highly recommended.

nothing in particular

"Overall the stay was great!! The owner is friendly, courteous, and very attentive. The apartment has a lot of character"

9.0

It has a lot of character and in a great location. The bed was cozy and it’s pretty quiet. it is walking distance from the river walk on a warm day, but on cold or rainy days it’s a longer walk. The owner is very kind and helpful. The apartment itself has a lot of charm and feels like home.

It’s a historical building, so it is just a tub. No shower which isn’t too bad. it was nice to soak

"Exceptional"

10.0

The house has a relaxing, romantic vibe. We loved being surrounded by pictures of famous actors, actresses, and musicians. And we loved the Italian villa feel of the whole place! Very close to the Riverwalk among other attractions. Anthony was beyond helpful with the whole process, as this was our first time staying at a home rather than a hotel. There is so much to see in San Antonio and we can't wait to go back!

We didn't ask what the best way to get around town was. We overpaid using our own car to park in the lots and garage on our first day out. Afterwards we used Uber- almost half the cost!

"Charming casita! Well worth it."

9.0

Charming little place. I had the whole place, including a courtyard, all to myself for less than half the price my sister was paying for a hotel on the Riverwalk a mile or less away. The courtyard was begging for a guitar, but left mine at home, alas. Only caveat is that it’s not for the disabled. I’m partially disabled (bad head injury a year ago) and did fine, but if it were 6 months ago, I would have had significant problems with steps and a bit of gravel. Outlets can be a bit scarce, but perfectly manageable and I bring a lot of gear. Anthony was a very responsive host and a nice man. Highly recommended.

Gate is a bit of a pain, but no big deal.

"Beautiful home but needs work to be a comfortable stay."

3.0

Wonderful host, beautiful historic home stunningly presented. Access to lovely private garden area and hot tub!

Shower.... Unfortunately this property doesn't have a shower. Due to it being a historic home, (it's challenging to understand this when we live in a 500 year old cottage in the UK with 3 Bathrooms...), A house built in the 40s should at least have an adapter or mixer tap you'd think. The bath was tiny and I'm not sure how we would have managed this for 5 nights we're a 6' and 6'2" couple. (It has air con so why can't it have a shower?) Bed.... Unfortunately super small and old. Everything is bigger in Texas? Not here! We couldn't comfortably sleep in the bed that was against the wall on one side, we just really couldn't get comfortable in this bed at all. I think with a new solid frame and mattress it would probably be doable. Cockroaches... This was the icing on the cake. The home is beautiful but has a lot of stuff, every surface there is stuff. It's a cockroach dream and after one of these critters being determined to enjoy the bathroom and another two making themselves known in the living room we couldn't hack it and left at midnight on our first night of 5. We had to leave this properly and find a hotel after failing to sleep in the bed due to it being too small and uncomfortable and the cockroaches, we were so worried one was going to scuttle up the wall the bed was pressed against it was hard to relax. Overall this properly is lovely to visit but it's not a relaxing stay. The home is eerie and the location is odd. The street is full of delapidated homes with 'no tresspassing' signs everywhere making it feel a touch unsafe. Our host explained it was due to the area suddenly becoming expensive due to the popularity of the river walk and it's close proximity, and owners wanting huge sums of money for these homes. This absolutely checks out but doesn't give it a good vibe when you rock up to stay here.
