Host Stay Berkano The Merchants Quarters

Pros: The appliances were modern and nice, the TV was large and good quality, and the beds were very comfortable.

I had messaged the host before arrival after seeing reviews about cleanliness, just to make sure the apartment would be properly cleaned. Unfortunately, it wasn’t. The floor was very dirty, there were dust balls everywhere, and we found dirty cutlery, plates, and dishes put back in the cupboard. The oven smelled bad and was greasy because food from previous guests had been left inside, so when we turned it on, the leftover food burnt and filled the place with a bad smell. The bathroom wasn’t clean either, with small hairs left in the sink, and overall the place clearly needed a deep clean. On top of that, the hand soap and shower gel/shampoo were practically empty when we arrived. Also, a large bag of dirty laundry from the previous guests, with a bag of their rubbish on top, was left right outside the bedroom door. Apartment was very noisy, take earplugs. This apartment could be a great option if it were cleaned properly. Unfortunately, it seems they don’t care enough to hire proper cleaners, as even messaging them before my stay made no difference at all.

Super apartment, very stylish and roomy. Great views of castle and harbour. There was tea, coffee and milk sachets in the kitchen. Good soundproofing and no noise from the two apartments above. Yes, seagulls from outside as they nest on opposite side but it is the seaside!

Seemed very clean on initial entry but quickly showed dust, dust balls, marks (drips, smears) on laminate floors. Handwashing and shower gel in bathroom were virtually empty. The parking scratchcard was not there as promised Host was easily reached and seemed very helpful and requested photographs and a brief report. Also offered to pay car park fees. An investigation was promised but I have heard nothing as yet.

very close to everything needed, very clean and a fantastic shower - spacious rooms and just a very modern apartment with everything we needed, roof terrace a bonus - I did have a couple of issues as per below but I would stay again 100% as the apartment was excellent overall

for a family security is key, you can lock the front door but if you pull the handle it Auto Unlock’s, meaning a child could easily leave just by turning the handle which is odd , a security Bolton is essential in a family apartment - also when booking we had a 3 prices to choose - we paid the middle price assuming apartment 2 would be selected as the views from the windows are higher and nicer than apartment one- then was told we was on the bottom floor despite paying £70 more - the staff couldn’t help me without screen shots despite the other apartment being shown for another week- they don’t advertise the names of the apartments upon booking which is misleading and then allocate you an apartment from the 3 - bear in mind apartment 2 and 3 are a lot nicer than belko as another couple let us look at flat 3. the staff stopped responding to my emails and I will learn to take screenshots upon booking, make sure when you book you take a pic of the living room window view to ensure you get the apartment you pay for -

Second time we have stayed in these apartments, and given a chance we will be staying again. The apartment is cleaned to a high standard. The beds are soooo comfortable. The location so close to the beach is great for families.

Fantastic location. Close to all amenities. Very clean, comfy beds. Good shower, great views from the windows and a great roof terrace. Easy access.

We could have done with an extra chair for the table and a new grater. The accommodation comes with a parking permit but didn't say where the location for this permit was (not close to the property). There was no guarantee of a space. I booked a parking place in Sainsburys which was about a mile away.

Everything we needed, clean and spacious and in the perfect location - we'd definitely stay again.

I couldn't figure out how to make the shower cooler, but I was still able to use it.

Needs Triple Glazing ! Elephants in the upper apartments ! Too noisy with the traffic ! If you need bed early with kids , do not stay here !!
