The Barn, designers dream beach hideaway

We stayed mid-week in June.... Very quiet as there was hardly anyone else staying in the area. Lovely outdoor area with BBQ (didn't use due to the wet weather) and warm water shower (did use to wash the dog off after beach walk!) Very comfortable place to stay, everything you could want and a fabulous shower.

Lack of somewhere to hang wet coats....

Absolutely stunning property. Extremely comfortable bed and couch, and lovely outdoor area. Easy check in and good communication from the host. We will definitely be back! We loved it.

The decor was amazing, it was so cozy, and we had a really relaxing time away. Would 100% stay again. So cool!

If I had to be super picky, the previous cleaning job could have been a bit better - the dishwasher still had dishes in it (albeit clean!), there were cobwebs on all the plants and the lounge needed a bit of a vacuum. But, it wasn't an issue.

Such a gorgeous place to stay. Very distinctive and quixotic style with the common factor being beauty everywhere you look. Lots of thought also put into creating a space that meets every need of the guest. Great appliances and a capacious fridge. At first I was disappointed that it is away from the main part of Waihi Beach but once I got up in the morning and walked to the beach I loved the location. So peaceful. Lots of local history too with the old pā nearby and some stirring stories about ngā wā o mua. The complete package - thank you for the manaakitanga.

The outside definitely does not live up to the inside. the courtyard is a bit neglected, plants not feeling the love. would not take much to fix this. On cleanliness, I had seen some complaints but I found it to be very clean. I managed to detect a couple of fine cobwebs, only a day or so old I'd say, apart from the hard-to-see one in bottom of glass coffee table. Tbh, if you wanted to completely eradicate spiders, you would need to bomb the place and then ick chemicals, I'd rather it be the way it is.

Scruffy garden -small enclosed garden with no view, tired decor inside - not very clean (flies and dead wasps) plus cobwebs - bedroom rug not v clean Also location - quite far from the beach
