Casa Mablu

Great location in the heart of Chaouen Medina nearby the Place El Haouta. Unique and pintoresque place to stay. The owner was very polite and friendly. Really hot shower. It has a nice terrace with a view of the area. Can be really quiet.

Could be cleaned a but better / thoroughly in the bathroom/shower. Toilet in 1st floor has a broken lid and you need to dip your hand in order to flush. * Location: make sure you get the address correctly or chat via WhatsApp beforehand. All around is blue and the only way to find the right door in that alley is to get 1 meter away from the door and you can see a tiny tile saying Casa Mablu. (We looked for the right door for over 20 minutes) * The neighbour has no sense of time and respect for the rest, when we arrived (around 10 pm) he was fixing the door and we came back from dinner he was still on it. It was over midnight he was hammering, drilling and banging the door. I was told twice “just 5 minutes”. Sure thing, Moroccan 5 minutes are eternal. He had the nerve to complain to me because I was asking to stop at around 00:20. I was in contact with the owner and instead take immediate action and intervene he said it was an emergency and to be patient but later he communicated with the neighbour and tried to stop him. I can promise for the life of me that nobody would like to brake into that house and especially in a hidden alley.

The house is huge; we only stayed for one night and didn't use anything but the bathroom and bedroom, so no idea about the kitchen facilities or anything, but the amount of space and the beautiful views you get for this price is really unbelievable. We would definitely recommend going with a larger family or friend group, enough space for everyone haha!

Nothing, simple but perfect

Great location in the centre of the medina yet easy to access. House was comfortable and characterful. Facilities were basic yet all that we needed for our stay. Nice balcony to relax on. Mohammed was very kind and helpful, meeting us on arrival and explaining everything.

The apartment is in very good location with good view and absolutely great terrace which was fantastic last breeze in the evening and you could listen to music from Veranda restaurant (music finished at midnight every day). Small kitchen for basic cooking which is not necessary as everything is so close and it’s great to eat in local restaurants. As some people complained about bathroom that it’s small- yes it is small and you can’t do anything about it. The shower was absolutely perfect and you just have to use the small space. You can find everything what you need here for short stay. I have used the double bedroom and bed is very comfortable. AC didn’t work first two nights and to sleep in 32°C even with fan on was impossible but owner did his best and fixed it. Neighbour were lovely and despite someone complaining that they are noisy, my experience is different. All was perfect and the even noise didn’t bother me at all. Moroccan people live after sunset when is not too hot and I am taking this as part of their culture. Owner was really lovely and helpful, I could contact him anytime in case of some problems. Would I recommend this apartment? Definitely YES!

It is just a suggestion for owner and tip for other travellers: 1/ would be good to have some rope in the terrace so guests can dry their clothes on. As a travel a lot, I have had my own. 2/ in the bedroom upstairs would be good to have small table close to mirror so guests can put their suitcase/bag or another stuff on.

Good location in the Medina

Neighbours a little noisy. Some features did not quite fit the description. Airconditioning unit in main bedroom upstairs not functioning properly but Mohammed did supply a fan in lieu. Facilities very basic.
