"Superb"

Our stay was amazing! Check-in was a breeze with a lockbox and code provided. Everything was clean, tidy, and the bed was super comfortable. The barn was beautifully decorated with charming little touches everywhere, making it feel so cozy. That said, the location and surroundings were fantastic. We even got to see the horses and their adorable goat, which was such a highlight! Overall, a wonderful experience.

The only downside for us was the bath—it’s very comfortable, but there’s no way to shower or bathe without water getting all over the floor.

"A fabulous, busy but relaxing stay in the perfect location for us. Thank you Chris & Nick😊"

9.0

Very easy, smooth communication with the hosts. The location was perfect for all that we wanted to do, visiting Kynren, High Force, Beamish Living Museum and Durham! We actually extended our stay by a day, which Chris sorted for us very promptly. Lots of space for 2 people, bed was exceptionally comfortable, had everything we needed for our stay. Following on from previous comments about the shower, we had read about this so were forewarned and it didn't bother us especially as I'm vertically challenged! We liked being able to look out at the stables and didn't haven't problems parking as we were out most of the day when it was busy. Local supermarkets are a short drive away. No clutter in the accommodation which meant we could truly relax without worrying about breaking anything!

We loved our stay - so these are only really recommendations that will enhance someone's stay even more! The sofa sagged at one end, I did manage to rectify with a cushion. A couple of other small issues passed directly onto Chris. Info about recycling would be helpful. We did clock the recycling bins though!

"Arrogant and unhelpful hosts. We left early."

1.0

The kids loved the bath. Only half an hour from Hamsterley Forest.

We had to cut the stay short after just one night. Unfortunately, the owners were just available over the phone and were unhelpful, condescending and rude to me when I needed help to operate some things. I felt unwelcome and stressed. Their house directly faces the holiday let so this also made me and my two children uncomfortable. I had difficulty using the key safe and the fan oven wouldn't work. There were no instructions available, even when Christine said previous guests had had difficulty using it, too. The spare bed wasn't set up as I'd requested for my daughter when I booked it however I was told I hadn't requested one (the first red flag) and therefore I had to do it myself. The sofa/sofabed looks stylish but is uncomfortable to sit on. The terrace/outdoor dining area isn't part of the property as it's on the opposite side of the farmyard, therefore not private. Falsely advertised by the owners. When I mentioned this to Nick, he was defensive and said I was welcome to use it. This showed his lack of understanding for me as a solo parent because it's not adjoining to the holiday property or suitable to keep an eye on my kids (who are 3 and 6). I was hoping we could enjoy meals on it together or I could have a cuppa or glass of wine once they had gone to sleep. A necessity for some holiday downtime but not when it's not part of the let. Not suitable for those with young kids, single parents. There weren't any personal touches, like milk or welcome biscuits or anything like that, which is often standard in hospitality but there is tea, instant coffee and sugar. Hosts absolutely have a responsibility to their guests to provide attention to detail and to assist with any problems in a helpful way. Travelling as a single parent isn't easy and it was our only holiday this year. Being told, "that's not my problem" and "we've never had any complaints before" shows arrogance and...

"Our stay was too short!"

8.0

The location was ideal - in the countryside yet in easy reach of services. The flat was open plan, tastefully decorated and equipped. The place had a friendly and welcoming atmosphere certainly for animal lovers. We spent a busy 2 days and could manage everything so we didn't need to bother our host.

It was a lovely bathroom, but old people like me can't climb in and out of baths! I missed a shower.

The location was ideal for visiting Durham. The Stables were very quiet even with horses in the vicinity.

Lovely holiday apartment, everything you need, spacious and comfortable. We had 2 dogs with us and they was no problem at all.

One of the owners dogs took a dislike to my partner, however they made a great effort to keep the dog separate from us which was greatly appreciated.
