Casa Susan

Casa Susan is kind of a gem hidden in plain sight. It is there, yet it is hard to believe it exists. You read the excellent reviews and wonder if it is for real. Everything seems to be too good to be true. Yet from the moment we stepped into the house we felt privileged to live in Susan and Carlos' former residence. The house is huge, clean, well-equipped and has a big balcony with a stunning view over the ocean and canopy. The whole experience is more like staying at a friend's house. Carlos is a very kind person with strong interpersonal skills. We really appreciated his willingness to help us in different situations. Also, staying in Rincon, just steps from Corcovado National Park, exceeded our expectations. All around you see the lush forest and tropical birds. We did activities on our own, but also a night tour with Carlos, during which we saw a tapir eating mangos at the nearby lodge, and a tour to Sirena Corcovado. I recommend the Rincon - San Josecito loop which takes you through the primary forest right from the house and then goes back to Rincon beach along the ocean. You can also go into the opposite directions to Rio Claro Punta where you can do a canoe trip inside the Rio Claro river canyon for some amazing views (check the Rio Claro Aventuras tours). Or you can simply spend some time at playa San Josecito, the most beautiful beach in the whole Drake region. If you wonder how to get there, it is easier by boat from Sierpe, but you can also travel by car in the dry and shoulder seasons. We drove from Uvita all the way to Casa Susan in a Hyundai Tucson and the ride was safe, but very bumpy from Rincon de Osa to Rincon de San Josecito. The bigger your car, the more comfortable you will be. Also, there are 2 river crossings as you approach the house, but nothing to worry when you travel in the dry season. If you travel in the shoulder season, as we did, and are really concerned about this, just call Carlos and he will be happy to assist you.

This house was so amazing. Family run properties, everyone was very helpful for all our needs. Susan made arrangements for our excisions and both her and Carlos responded right away to anything we asked. The house was properly maintained and we had everything needed for our stay. Thank you Susan & Carlos for the amazing stay at your house.

La casa está impecable y es muy cómoda, los anfitriones muy amables y pendientes de cualquier pedido. Las fotos son tal cual es la casa. La vista es única y el lugar muy tranquilo.

Great place set in the middle of nature with an amazing view and super-friendly hosts. They organized all tours for us, including Isla del Caño, Corcovado and a fantastic night tour in the close-by jungle forest with Carlos. We want to come back for sure. Nos organizaron todos los tours: Isla del Caño, Corcovado y un fantástico tour nocturno con Carlos. Nos encantaría volver.

Susan House ist ein Kleinod. Susan und Carlos sind zwei sehr liebenswerte und immer über die Maßen hilfsbereite Menschen, die alles tun um ihre Gäste zufrieden zu machen. Wir haben 4 Nächte dort verbracht und uns unglaublich wohl gefühlt. Das Haus ist groß, blitzsauber und mit guter Ausstattung (auch Waschmaschine, Trockner und Gasgrill). Die Schlafzimmer haben Klimaanlage, die je nach Jahreszeit dringend benötigt wird. Die Terrasse mit Blick auf den Pazifik ist wunderschön. Wir konnten hier viele Stunden sitzen, den Vögeln zusehen und uns prima entspannen. Susan organisiert auch perfekt alle Touren und Ausflüge und hilft auch in schwierigen Situationen. Bei der Anreise mit dem Auto ist zu beachten, dass ab Drake Bay noch 2 Flußquerungen notwendig sind. Erkundigen Sie sich vorher bei Carlos, wie diese anzufahren sind. Wenn man es weiß, ist es kein Problem (in der Trockenzeit!). Liebe Susan und Carlos: wir bedanken uns ganz herzlich für unseren tollen Aufenthalt und hoffen eines Tages auf ein Wiedersehen!

Es war einfach alles super. Das Haus ist traumhaft schön. Wunderbare Aussicht riesige Räume, Küche mit komplettem Ausrüstung. Wir waren leider nur zwei Nächte das Wetter hat nicht mitgemacht aber hier lohnt sich Minimum eine Woche zu bleiben. Carlos und Susan sind die Besitzer des Hauses, deine sind sehr lieb und hilfsbereit.
