Frida's House in Old Town Thessaloniki

The house was wonderfully clean with a very nice design next to the castles, you can walk through the beautiful streets with the nice taverns and the nice cafes with a view of the whole city, Mr. Michalis was very kind and helpful, he gave us a lot of information

The closeness to the walls

The location is very good. The bed is comfortable. Overall clean, location right in front of the acropolis. Host was very responsive and fast.

The apartment is located as it a basement. It has an unbearable smell of basement, but we didn’t mind as we booked it last minute and for only one night. There was no mosquito net at the window, and there were a lot of flies, especially in the bathroom. We also got notified by the host that the shower if not opened correctly with the boiler, has a risk of electrocution, so we avoided even using it as it was sketchy.

The apartment had a very strong mould smell. I couldn't fall asleep due to the smell.

Good location in old city

There is 2 addresses with the same name. We we dropped off by the cab 3km away down the hill, and had to walk uphill because the cab left and we were left without a car. About 80% through the walk, the host decided to pick us up, but our legs were already hurting so bad. Place is quite dirty, mildews in the bathroom, and bad moulds in the washer. Stains on cutleries.

A good starting point for those who wish to visit avery well preserved fort from the Byzantine and Ottoman era, as well as the beautiful Vlatades monastery, the Ataturk museum and many other important landmarks.

Quiet neighborhood however the AC machine was too loud. Bed was comfortable, fridge was workng fine, toilet had essentials needed. Towels provided upon arrival. Host is responsive and did his best to help, kind enough to offer his service to fetch me from the airport on the way to the property. Plenty of shops around with nearby groceries and you can see the view of Thessaloniki right outside your door.

Host could have provided instructions on how to get the keys as I was not informed that there was a key safe upfront. The location is about half an hour walk from the center, take note this place is situated upon a hill so the uphill climb everyday was very exhausting. There is a nearby bus stop but is not as frequently available. I did smell molds when I first came inside the property, and to my surprise, as I was excited to try and use their cooker, the oven was packed with some dirt and stain I could not even think of putting food inside it. There are a few parts of the room where there are stains/dirt present. The WIFI is not reliable, especially during the night, won’t recommend if you’re staying here and will need a decent connection. It can get cold in the evening, try to maximize the heater settings on the AC. The photos below are the cons of what I stated here, but overall the place is quite decent for its price. If only this was closer to the center and did not require thousands of steps to walk up, I would definitely consider coming back.
