Clean and comfortable, spacious rooms, modern design, we had everything we needed. We had a wonderful time here. The host was very nice. We had a beautiful view on the mountains.

Malterlehen is a stunning apartment with panoramic views of the Alps. My wife and I stayed there for six days and absolutely loved everything about it. The apartment is located in Oberau, 30 minutes from Berchtesgaden, and has a bus service (Bus 848) that stops near the apartment. Although the bus connection to Oberau ends early around 6.30 PM, there is an hourly bus (840) to Unterau till 7.30 PM, which is a 30-minute walk from Oberau. The walk is beautiful and highly recommended. When we arrived, our host Andreas kindly picked us up from the Unterau bus station as we had a suitcase. He was also kind enough to drive us to the Aldi nearby to pick up groceries. The apartment is spotlessly clean. The living room is spacious and opens onto a beautiful balcony with spectacular views of the Alps. We loved catching the sunset from the balcony. The place has a well-fitted kitchen and a bedroom with a sunroof. Both Andreas and his wife Ingrid were welcoming and gracious hosts and recommended great hiking spots. The farm around the apartment is very picturesque and looks exactly as in the photos, complete with cute cats, chickens and other animals. The Beer Garden (Gasthof Auerwirt) at the end of the road is a wonderful place to relax after a hike, and check out the bakery a short walk away (Lebensmittel Ulutas on Google maps) Important: Please note that the Bavarian region is mostly cash-only and make sure to bring some Euros along with you. We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing vacation and plan to return with our family!

Nothing, a dream stay

Wonderful scenery, comfy accommodation and wonderful hosts. If the area is one you choose to stay in, you will love it here. I stumbled upon this place while looking for a stay in the area and I'm really glad about how it all turned out.

Owners were very friendly and live on site. They were on hand for any questions we had. The apartment was huge and well appointed. It contained everything we needed for a short stay. The location is fabulous, with direct views on to the surrounding mountains, including the Eagles's Nest. The surrounding area offered plenty to do in terms of hiking, visiting Konigsee, and sightseeing in surrounding towns. It is also only a short drive to Salzburg.

No complaints to note. The property was excellent, in a fabulous location and could not be faulted.
