The host was very kind and helpful, waiting for us after a late flight and assisting with parking. There are two nearby parking options, which is convenient. The house is in a great location by the port, with beautiful sea views and sunrise. It’s spacious, well-equipped, and thoughtfully arranged.

There was a minor clog in the bathroom sink, but we didn’t request it to be fixed due to our short stay. Checkout felt a bit rushed, as the cleaning staff arrived while we were finishing our last packing tasks with our luggage ready, which was slightly uncomfortable.

This was a good place for our situation: just two nights, with a rental car, and wanting mostly to visit the museum and the old town (and not drive). The view of the port and the fort was a great bonus. Trying to bring the rental car into the city would have been a bad idea, so this location (on the edge of the city but right at the harbor by the old town) seemed ideal, and it was. The host suggested paid parking - we used Seaside Parking just to the west, a short walk, and left our car there for the duration. The owner had somebody meet us at the apartment, and he showed us everything about it, which was nice, especially since this is not a hotel. The apartment is big, and is right over a noisy street with busy restaurants. Pro tip: all of the windows have metal storm blinds that can be cranked down, which muffle the sound quite a bit. In fact, this apartment was like puzzle room, with many lighting fixtures and switches, and a kitchen unit with fold-out doors, and the double blinds. I would rather have been back in the mountains, but I would choose this place again if returning to the city.

A minor thing: on arrival we had no idea where the entrance to the building is, as it looks like a utility door. I think the owners are so used to it that they forgot to specify the exact door. We were confused, dragging our bags back and forth at first. No big deal.

Best location, best view, comfortable beds. 100%

Great location in the harbor area of Heraklion, right across the street from the Venetian fortress and a long walkable pier (people walk/run along the pier during day/evening). Wonderful view of the busy harbor from the room's balcony. Very central location, walkable into town for restaurants/shops. We were able to be picked up for a tour of Knossos palace across the street next to the fish market. Also within walking distance of the Heraklion Archeological Museum, which I highly recommend visiting! We were very impressed by the quality of this museum with its Minoan artifacts/frescoes - 2 hours was not long enough! Also walkable from the ferry port - about 10 minutes with luggage. A short stay but we enjoyed visiting this part of Crete from the comforts of this apartment!
