All was good

There’s nothing that we didn’t like! This was our second stay here and we’ll be back again and again. The house is so spacious, immaculately clean, bright and airy with many rooms opening up onto the garden with a sparkling pool. The property is dog-friendly and our fur babies had the time of their lives exploring after a very long day in the car. The kitchen is extremely well equipped, the beds are very comfortable and the rooms are air-conditioned but there are also plenty warm, cuddly blankets for those cold Karoo nights. The lockup garage is a plus and we felt very safe at all times! The house - which is a beautiful historic property - is located in a quiet, tree-lined road that’s close to the city centre and its quaint boutiques and coffee shops. You can’t go wrong!

Service, location and neatness

Having an entire house to ourselves, with a garden for our dogs to burn off steam after a long car journey - and a lovely swimming pool to enjoy in temps that topped 40 degrees - was an unexpected treat. We’ve stayed in the Kothuize several times and always found them comfortable, characterful, clean and well equipped .. this visit was our best yet.

We were blown away!!! What a beautiful and well-maintained national monument/historic property - it exceeded all expectations. Everything was spotlessly clean and so, so comfortable. The beds (with sparkling white linen) in the air-conditioned bedrooms were heavenly after a long day in the car. The house is spacious and airy, with the front-facing rooms all having doors that open up onto the sizeable garden with an enticing pool. Our very satisfied dogs had much to explore! The kitchen was better equipped than any other self-catering accommodation we’ve stayed at, and the two fridges can easily accommodate supplies for 6 occupants over a number of days. The lock-up garage and alarm system are an added bonus that - coming from Johannesburg - gave us peace of mind. We’ve already booked our next stay at 166 Cradock Street and hope to return many times in the future.

The only “criticism” was that the (otherwise very well-equipped) kitchen had no champagne flutes, so we had to drink bubbly out of wine glasses. A nice problem to have 😆

We travelled with our dogs and the garden was a great place for them to run off steam after a long car journey. The lovely pool was a bonus! The house itself was immaculate and roomy - with a dining table, kitchen table and outdoor terrace table. This time my husband and I travelled alone but we’ll be back with friends. It’s more than a stayover option. It’s a great place to call home for a few days while exploring the area.

The accommodation was neat and clean. Good location. Will definitely stay there again. Highly recommend. Thank you

Happy with everything

Fabulous old world house with great facilities. Very central for everything.

Can be noisy at night due to old world single glazed windows, could hear people talking outside.. outdoor light on all night.
