Old town boutiqe apartments/ Gamle Lærdalsøyri boutique leiligheter

This was a nice apartment for a 2 night stay. It was on the route of our road trip, we got to visit the Borgund Stave Church nearby, and had two grocery stores in walking distance. The apartment had enough space for our party of 3, had a fridge, stove top, and small oven for cooking, and two bedrooms.

There were no black out curtains and the noise isolation to outside wasn't great, but the pedestrian street below was not often used. We sleep with eye masks and ear plugs while traveling so this wasn't an issue for us. The stovetop was hard to operate the second night. There is a small white box above the stove stop that needed to be pressed and took us 10 minutes to figure out. I found the softness of the queen bed comfortable but it was not comfortable for my boyfriend. The shower stall was pretty small.

Beautiful, quiet, clean apartment.

I liked how the location of the house was in a good town. The place was clean. It had great facilities and was comfortable.

What i didn't like is that there was construction going on at the bottom of the house in the supermarket built below so the house was covered with structural steel framing on the outside before entering.

The location was in the center of town and fairly close to everything.

The stay started poorly with the check in. At booking time, it was confirmed that we could check in at 2 PM. The day before we were told they were very busy and that they would try for 2 but could guarantee 3, the regular check in time. At 3 the cleaning person had not even yet arrived. When we finally went in around 3:30, we didn't find it very clean, specially the bathroom. There was water all over the counter; the soap dispenser was empty, and there was only the remnant of a toiler paper roll with no extras. Also unfortunately no coffee for the coffee maker and stained upholstery on the couches and chairs. They might tell you the the poor cleaning was due to us rushing them...but when your guaranteed check in time is 3, one expects the place to be clean and ready at 3.

Really authentic atmosphere

No real windows in the living room and the dining area don't have proper lighting. The entrance is a little messy with a very steep staircase.

Location was very convenient for sightseeing around the Sognefjord area. Very charming oldie worldly atmosphere. Shops & a restaurant close by. Great for those who want to self cater.

Stairs were very narrow, especially when carrying bags & shopping up & down. Probably not suitable for families with young children. One of the reasons we chose this property was it advertised having a washing machine, dryer & clothes airer. There wasn’t a clothes airer & the WM & drier were located downstairs. When we arrived they were in use by the cleaner & he advised they were for staff use only. After we pointed out the advertising he said we could use them after his loads were finished. That took about 2 hours which meant our washing wasn’t finished until nearly midnight. Coming from Australia we are very familiar with reverse cycle aircon units. As it was quite cold we tried to heat the apartment using the air con as per the info provided but it only had a cooling mode.
