PDL Central Apartments - One

The central location, only a few minutes on foot to harbor, main square, shops and restaurants is excellent. The property is very clean and well equipped (bonus points for the Nespresso machine and the teapot with colander for those of us who drink loose-leaf tea!). And the nice manager gave us many helpful tips for our stay.

The property itself was ideal and cozy for us ( a couple), but the construction of the building makes it so that sounds echo quite a lot. For a few days, we had loud and inconsiderate neighbors and woke up when they returned during the early morning hours. Otherwise, no problems.

What I appreciated most about staying at PDL Central Apartments was the kindness of the owner, Rafaela. She clearly loves her island and shared so many great tips about places to visit, things to do, and restaurants to try. On top of that, the apartment was fully equipped with everything you need to live comfortably — cooking utensils, Tupperware, oil, salt, spices, tea, coffee, soap, and more. In my opinion, that kind of thoughtful preparation is truly invaluable.

If I had to mention something I didn’t like, it would be the bed — I found it too hard for my taste, although my boyfriend actually found it comfortable. Also, there’s a noticeable musty smell near the entrance, probably due to the building’s general humidity issues.

The host Rafaela is the single most positive thing related to this appartment. She is friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, brought us an extra pillow and gave us great recommandations about the area. Beside that, the appartment is clean, the kitchen is well equiped (including salt, vinegar and oil, which is super useful!) and there is enough storage space in every room. We appreciate the presence of a dehumidifyer and an a/c unit, it makes a positive difference. The spot is well located, at a walking distance of everything. It is relatively cheap considering the location and the fact that it is a whole appartment.

Warning, it is advertised as "one bed + one sofa-bed", but if you book only for two people on BookingCom, they just set one bed, and you have to pay an extra 10 euros per night to have the sofa-bed, which is basically false advertising. On top of that, the sofa-bed will litterally tumble on one side if you dare to lay/sit on the wrong side, and you can feel the wooden beam running in the middle of the bed through the thin mattress placed over it. Also, if someone turns on the light in the main hall of the building, the whole room lights up brightly (which happens even at 11 pm). The appartment is not soundproof at all, so you clearly hear cars and people in the street, and doors and steps in the stairs of the building, plus the coughing and the music from the other appartment. We could barely sleep even with a sleep mask and the dehumidifyer placed near the bed to create a white noise. Everytime a door in the main hall opens, it feels like if someone just entered your appartment. The appartment kept some authenticity of the building, with small proportions at some places, meaning that if you are an average size person who always dreamed of feeling like a giant bumping into everything, that's your place to be! It took few days to get use to the place. Wifi works in the living room, but does not properly reaches the bedroom, and cannot reach the balcony at the back of the appartment. Finally, we woke up with a giant cockroach next to the bed.

There were some humidity related problems in the apartment but nothing too serious.

Love the town and island. Location of apartment was great. Raphela was very accommodating and sweet.

No one to meet us upon arrival. No and were at office. Booking,com number didn't work. Sent message to office via bookings. She then got back to us with apology and was there in 15 minutes. All worked out but was a bit alarming standing on very narrow street with our luggage.
