Alpen-Sonne

This place was so beautiful! It is a distance to Zermatt but reasonably priced compared to Zermatt accommodations. So fun to eat dinner on the patio on look at the incredible mountains. Very comfy rooms.

Sankt Niklaus is a small town and most stores close early. We went to the nearby grocery store (Migros) and it was closed by 6pm :)

Beautiful place and nice people really reccomend it

It’s a beautiful Swiss cottage in a valley. Maya upgraded us to a bigger house and welcomed us on arrival, she walked us through the house and made sure that everything is available. Also responded very fast with our questions. The house is very clean and equipped with utensils. The view is amazing and parking spots are available. Would consider staying here again.

Not a criticism but one of the rooms doesn’t have thick opaque curtains, so in summer it’s get very bright early. Plus the weather was quite warm during our stay in mid June. Any warmer and I think a fan would definitely be needed.

Spacious, clean and great hosts

Very little to appreciate. The only positive aspect was the beautiful view of the snow-covered landscape, which provided a brief moment of relief amidst an otherwise unpleasant experience.

Our experience at Alpen Sonne, Sankt Niklaus, was quite disappointing. We stayed for two nights with family and unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations. 1. Difficult Access – The house is located up a steep hill, approximately 10m from the main road, with an incline of around 50-75 degrees. The walkway is very steep and requires extreme caution, making it highly unsafe for families with young children or strollers. By the time you reach the house, you’re already out of breath. Definitely not suitable for families or elderly guests. 2. Distance to Public Transport – The nearest bus stop is about 700m away, requiring a 7-10 minute walk. This may not seem far, but combined with the steep location of the house, it can be quite inconvenient, especially in poor weather conditions. 3. Overpriced & Extra Charges – The stay was unreasonably expensive, and we were forced to pay an additional 600 CHF in cash for our child because the host insisted that kids should be charged the same rate as adults. This made no sense, as our child ended up sleeping on the couch. It felt like an unfair. 4. Rude Host – Unfortunately, the host was not accommodating and came across as quite rude, making the overall experience even more unpleasant. Overall, I would not recommend this place for families, especially with small children. The access is dangerous, the pricing is unfair, and the host’s attitude made our stay uncomfortable. There are definitely better options in the area for the price.

Amazing Host! Very clean apartment!

Beautiful location with panoramic views all around and get quiet and away from the touristy places. We went there around Xmas and there was snow everywhere. The apartment is very spacious and comfortable with a fully equipped kitchen. The owners are very helpful and have a very personal touch. We absolutely loved our 4 day stay here
