Parkknott Retreat Luxury Lodge with Private Hot Tub

Excellent location…..perfect for those wanting peace and quiet and time to relax.

Lovely lodge, really well decorated, nice size, clean but I have to say the best bit is the hot tub, absolutely loved how private it was and the fact it was covered

Lack of blinds meant it was very bright and not great for those who want to lie in. Not really a problem at all but would have been good to have separate “outdoor” towels for the hot tub and somewhere to hang them to dry.

Everything was lovely, lovely place nice places local to walk nice food. 30 min drive to Windermere. Hot tub was pre warmed all weekend.

The only thing that let the place down was free view Chanel’s on the tv. For the price you pay I would have expected a smart tv with links to Netflix etc.

The scenery and location was absolutely beautiful, close to a nearby town for facilities but far enough to feel out there

Excellent place to escape the madness of the outside world for a bit! It was pretty hard to find which lodge was ours in the pitch dark, but once that was established, we had no trouble locating it when we went out and returned. A nice large lodge with a very secluded hot tub just around the side, and complementary robes and slippers, which were ace! We used the tub when it was -6°, blowing a gale, raining and snowing, and apart from the odd drip of rain landing on my shoulder, the sun/rain/snow cover did an exceptionally good job of keeping the elements at bay! One bit of advice: remember to take EVERYTHING you need for the tub when you first go, coz getting out, running to get something from the lodge, and then coming back isn't very nice in the snow.... when you're soaking wet....!! 😵 And likewise, getting out at the end of the session, was really cold, but whilst in it, it was lovely and relaxing! TIP: send the Missus back to the lodge if you forget owt, yes, she'll give you grief, but trust me, that's nowt compared to the gale force wind that blows on your little soaking wet body if you need to go back! 🥶 I did go back ONCE to get a drink, and it was freezing, but oh so nice getting back in the tub!! The lodge was pretty well clean, had every amenity you could wish for, and felt nice and homely. Steaming hot powerful shower. Bed and pillows were very soft, and had a really good sleep. We only ate out once, at the Brown Cow in Dalton, a 10min drive away, after reading the reviews on tinternet about their home made steak pie. It looked delicious in the pics, and tasted even better than it looked! And was also a huge piece, filled with proper chunks of meat-one of the best pies I have ever tasted! 😋 I would advise taking your FireStick, as even terrestrial TV is very hit and miss, but wifi is a good 45meg, so no trouble streaming anything 👍

Had trouble getting up and ready for the 10 o'clock kick out, 11am would've been much more appreciated, and it kinda took the cream off such a good trip. Nobody goes to bed early on their last nite of hols (well we don't!!), and so we were late hitting the sack, so really struggled getting up, and the cleaners were knocking on the door at bang on 10am whilst we were still throwing clothes into bags! 🙈 Would highly recommend; a good 4.5 out of 5, and would've been a solid 5 star rating if not for the "early" checkout. But still defo recommended, so much we've already booked for next year.... just need Sue to ease back on that 10am checkout!! 😉 😄 😄
