"An idilic place to stay!"

10.0

Paradise! You won't want to leave. I have stayed at other B&B's and agriturismos in the Chianti region. This is my favorite so far. It's an old stone farmhouse building, but completely renovated on the inside, including the all-important air conditioning. If you're wondering how many days to stay in the region, my suggestion would be to add one extra day and just relax here. Driving on the windy, steep roads to nearby places like Panzano, Siena, or Florence, is great… but this place is so conducive to relaxing and enjoying the natural beauty, you'll wanna stay here. Practical considerations: this place would be great for two couples, or two friends traveling together, or a family of four or five. The two bedrooms are both big enough and each have their own air conditioning, and great views. The living/dining /kitchen area is big enough to gather. And please note: there is a sister apartment immediately adjacent, called Casa Pratolino (same owner). My friends and I rented both and It was really perfect for us. But even if you don't know the people right next-door, the old stone walls are quite thick and I did not hear any noises from the adjacent apartment. There is a third apartment, Casa Ana in a separate building just across the driveway. So if you have a big group, or a few families, you could rent all three. But conversely, you won't be bothered by others occupying those spaces if you don't know them. Casa Alta is slightly smaller than Casa Pratolino. The latter has a separate dining room room and living room. Two more outstanding features: (1) the hostess, Ana, could not be more helpful, hospitable, and friendly. She met us upon our arrival, gave us the keys and showed us around. (2) the restaurant on site (literally about 20 steps from where you stay) is called La Cantinetta Di Rignana; you sit outside with breathtaking views of the vineyard and countryside.

This really can't be helped, and is quite common for other properties in the Chianti region, but there's about a 5 mile unpaved road to get to the property. It's bumpy and people in the backseat don't have a great time for these few minutes driving from the paved road. But like I said, many other great places to stay in Chianti, particularly if you're actually staying at a farm or vineyard, we'll have the same issue.

"Beautiful property with great amenities, excellent host, perfect location, great value."

10.0

Casa Alta exceeds every expectation! The villa was beautiful. It was comfortable and very nicely furnished. The kitchen had everything we could want for breakfast and simple meals. The bathrooms were gorgeous and modern, and amenities were perfect. I couldn't imagine a better host than Ana! She was warm and welcoming, and we felt she really cared about guests having a memorable stay. Her friendly assistance made our visit even better. We loved dining at the restaurant next door - we enjoyed three meals there, both lunch and dinner. Everything was wonderful, and their staff was very welcoming. The location was exactly what we were looking for - an easy drive from Florence, close to many wineries and small towns for exploring - quiet area but not too quiet. The pool was wonderful, and the views from the pool area were gorgeous. We enjoyed every minute of our stay at Casa Alta and would love to return.

Loved everything!

"Red wine ,fireplace and blankets: perfect Winter stay."

10.0

The host was extremely professional and gracious. The wood fireplace was a game changer that we enjoyed most every night. Comfortable furniture, great beds and a newly renovated apt made for an exceptional time. The vineyard is at the top of a hill near a natural preserve area. Lots of game to see and birds to watch.

really can't think of anything.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our tranquil stay. Perfect spot for relaxation, views and comfortable accommodation. The hosts wer"

9.0

The property is comfortable with a modern kitchen and two shower rooms. The best views are from bedrooms. Kitchen supplies are plentiful and air con very good. There is a nice shaded outdoor space for breakfast and a comfortable seating area for an evening drink. Beautiful sunsets can be seen from the carpark opposite the property. The shared pool is a good time with lovely views and a cabana for shade. An added bonus was the very good restaurant 1 minute walk.

Quite a bumpy ride to get to the property which is needed to get to any amenities.. shops etc. some may see this as a positive as it does feel very remote.

"Beautiful property & wonderful hosts"

10.0

This is our best experience in over 30 years of travel in terms of hosts - Ana and her family treated us like family and went above and beyond to help us when we met with a minor auto incident which deprived us of our car. Her own family members were brought in and gave us so much help - on Christmas Day and Boxing Day at that - out of their way and at the cost of their holiday time with family. We really can’t thank them enough ! This is hospitality from the heart. As for the property itself, Ana has furnished this with much love - the place is a 1000 year old farmhouse with interiors newly renovated in 2020, but retaining all the beautiful periodic features. All the mod-cons are there and are of high quality. The pictures are completely accurate ! It is surrounded by vineyards, olive trees, and right next is a high quality restaurant. The surrounding vineyard and Fattoria are part of the same family - they produce excellent Chianti which we sampled at the restaurant one night. We would love to return ! Gracie Mille Ana !

"An idyllic house in a secluded area near Greve"

10.0

Casa Alta is one of two apartments in an old Tuscan house set in the midst of vineyards. It has two separate bedrooms each with its own bathroom, generous living room/kitchen and all the mod cons whilst retaining original features such as vaulted ceiling. Our say was very comfortable, we particularly enjoyed the power shower and the wood burning fireplace. The kitchen is fully furnished including an espresso machine and Anna had prepared a lot of supplies like salt, oil, coffee capsules and dishwasher tabs, which was very helpful for a stress-free arrival. The bedrooms are compact but comfortable, beds are very comfy as well. The view from the bedroom windows towards the vineyards is very nice. The house has a beautiful garden that is shared between the two apartments, each has its own table outside the entrance as well as a separate gazebo in the garden. We enjoyed a morning coffee and an evening drink at both of those. The area is very quiet and we could truly relax. There is another one or two similar properties nearby and importantly - an excellent restaurant, which apparently is very popular - it get's busy! There were no available tables for us on the first day, but we could order to take away and enjoyed delicious dinner in our own dining room. Apart from the restaurant, the nearest amenities are about 15 minutes drive, which was perfectly ok given the piece and quiet we had. The Coop supermarket in Greve is open late-ish on workdays and until lunch on Sunday (All details on Google maps). The last few kilometres of the road to the property is unpaved and slow, but was not a problem for our Golf. Adds to the romantic feeling of the setting :) Anna was a great host, she contacted me a week ahead with useful information and has responded immediately to every question we had. There is a brand new swimming pool, which is 14 meters long - rare! Our entire party has truly enjoyed the house and we will gladly come again!
