I was a little apprehensive looking at some of the photos of the apartment on the website, but was reassured by all the positive reviews. The apartment is in a nice, quiet area of Puerto de la Cruz. It is spacious, clean and the kitchen is very well-equipped. Detlef met us at the apartment on arrival and was helpful.

The situation may be different in summer, but whilst we were there the terrace got no sun at all at any time (even when it was beautiful weather). I struggled to dry any washing on the terrace, even when temperatures were around 25 degrees. There is also no view or outlook at all, as the apartment is completely surrounded/enclosed by other buildings. The dining area is an extension built onto the original apartment (using much of the terrace) and has had the effect of reducing daylight into the living room/kitchen area, where it is dark and gloomy all day. The bathroom towels, tea towels and bedding were all old, worn and of a poor standard. Two of the tea towels were in the form of 1987 calendars and others were covered in holes and old stains! As for the bath towels, let's just say they had exfoliating properties! The bedding was a particular disappointment. Only 2 pillows were provided for the double bed, both of which were feather (to which I am allergic). There was one other (non-feather) pillow in the second bedroom, but no others. There were no pillow protectors used, which (especially given that feather pillows are not washable) seems unhygienic. There was a poorly-fitting stretch towelling sheet on the bed, no top sheet and (for some inexplicable reason) 2 single duvets! Spare bedding provided was all of the same poor quality. Basically, we found ourselves having to go out and buy bedding the day after we arrived in order to get a decent night’s sleep. The owners have filled this apartment with ornaments, bric-a-brac, knickknacks and plastic plants, but in my opinion they would have done better to spend their money on new bedding and towels. One last note, as others have mentioned, parking can be problematic. Carrying heavy shopping from wherever we managed to park the car was quite a struggle. Sadly, given that the negatives far outweigh the positives for us, we will not be returning.
