Très ample, super bien équipé, très agréable. Il faut savoir qu’il y a deux escaliers avant d’arriver. La propriétaire très sympa et avec petit cadeau de bienvenue.

Quiet, Close to a park and to the beach, Traditional furniture. Traditional cake and liquor offered at our arrival. Ample parking in front of the building.

Being in an attic it can get quite hot. There is a low ceiling around the bed. This could be improved by moving the bed. Narrow external stair way if you carry a large heavy bag.

The location of the property cannot be beat. Situated on a quiet side street facing a park with ample off the street parking. The electric gate control welcomes you into a magical courtyard with roses and day lilies lining the drive. The room itself is perfectly appointed with a queen bed, twin bed, crib and fold out twin sofa. The kitchen is complete with 2-burner stove, toaster, toaster oven, coffee maker, hotpot, mini fridge, microwave and all kitchen dinnerware and gadgets necessary for the stay. Additionally there is a small European clothes washer within the kitchen with a dryer outside of the apartment main entry available to share with other guests. Our host Vanda met us early at the property with the keys and did a walk-around of the apartment. She was kind enough to bake us two traditional pastry cakes accompanied by a small wine decanter of a local orange liquor…simply fantastic. The windows open to a canopy of trees with songbirds active in the morning and doves and pigeons cooing in the evening. The room is equipped with a small sitting area with TV, dining table and chairs, desk, oscillating fan, clothes rack, iron and ironing board. The apartment itself is just a 5 minute walk from the waterfront and marina along a wide neighborhood sidewalk. We truly enjoyed the proximity to restaurants and sports bars especially during the futbol national championships in which Portugal won!

The apartment is situated in the peak of a shared home which requires luggage to be brought up two flights of stairs. This was a minor issue but worthy of mention if moving heavy bags or for people with limited mobility. Also, as the apartment is in the A-frame of the home, the walls are sloped inward so there are places where attention needs to be taken to avoid bumping your head (ask me how I know :o). Lastly, the property does not have air conditioning which is common in the Azores but worthy of mention for those accustomed to having A/C. Again, minor issues that do not outweigh the positive attributes of the rental.
