Modern 1BR WiFi Breathtaking Oceanviews by Huespedia

The only good thing I can say about this place is the view of the ocean was spectacular.

But the view comes at a very high price. Everything else about this place was absolutely horrible. First, the location is probably the worst in all of Bocagrande. The building is The Palmetto Sunset. Check TripAdvisor reviews and pics and you’ll see everything. Lots of rough characters, prostitutes and street vendors hanging outside of the place. The entrance isn’t well-maintained and is just a wide open area. The front desk staff are the most rude and unpleasant. Took 30 mins to check in and they treated me as if I was some sort of idiot and criminal. They were insistent on informing me that there are zero visitors allowed in the building UNLESS you pay a $5 fee per person, register their ID and they can only be in the building certain hours. There seemed to be a lot of “passport bro” activity in and around this building; hence the policy. Pools are god-awful and haven’t been maintained, the gym was unusable and full of rusted or broke equipment. Despite this I still attempted to workout but it requires a special card to turn on the AC unit and they will only give it to you if you surrender your passport to them; which is nonsensical and I refused. The room itself is very old and is quite cramped. I legitimately had no where to open my language fully except the balcony. The main bathroom had black mold and mildew above the ceiling. The washer and dryer was old and unusable and there’s a window to the hallway to vent the dryer heat but also is a huge security concern and also lets in every single sound and amplifies it. Offer my first day, noticed wetness from the above bathroom ceiling where the black mold was and the ceiling suddenly collapsed. Perhaps the worst part of all of this was dealing with the host Huespedia. They initially tried to make me stay by saying they were going to send a repair person to fix the molded collapsed ceiling.

The view from the balcony was amazing - it gives total privacy while being able to have a total view of the water. I also really appreciated the washer/dryer combo in the room - it made staying there much easier as I was able to bring less clothing (and therefore less luggage).

One of the reasons I chose this hotel was for having the feature of a kitchen. However, only 1 burner worked on the stovetop, and the stove itself didn't work, which was really disappointing - especially since I only discovered this after buying groceries. I also do not like that they have unusual rules for visitors - a visitor is only allowed between the hours of 10am-9:30pm and 12am-5pm. It made socializing with friends difficult, as I had hoped to do things like watch movies and play card games with friends before going out for the night - this is a rule that is not listed on booking.com which I found really frustrating. I would not have stayed at the location had I known.
