"Sehr netter Vermieter einer historischen Mühle"

7.0

Thomas was a great host, always available, friendly, and ready to help. The place is beautifully located on the outskirts of Santa Cruz, surrounded by nature with a lovely view of the ocean. The apartment was fully equipped, with an excellent kitchen, a great shower and bed, and fast internet. I totally recommend it and would be happy to come back soon!

Einfach Alles!!

Everything was amazing, the location, the walk to the house! Felt like an enchanted path to the house with lots of flowers and greenery around. It was nice and quiet and the air was super fresh. Few minutes with the car and there is restaurants around. Just perfect!

"A beautiful secluded place to retire to after a long day in the sun, with great hiking routes around"

10.0

A secluded and peaceful location with an amazing view, up in the hills behind Santa Cruz. Thomas was a wonderful host, very helpful and kind! It's a great starting point for walks, either down to Santa Cruz (~3 km) or up into the mountains. I loved my morning walks down the barranco to the city, a route recommended by Thomas. There are actually two good restaurants within walking distance, one up the hill to Velhoco, and one in nearby Las Nieves, a beautiful little village that's well worth a visit. I found the old mill a wonderful "base camp" to retire to after a long day in the sun. And I can't complain about the price either. Highly recommended!

I have nothing negative to say (except maybe the dogs barking in the distance, although it didn't bother me much). But I can see how it's not for everyone. The house I rented didn't have a kitchen, but I could pay extra for access to one (edit: private, not shared, but in another building). I opted to use the microwave and simple coffee station with tea/coffee/etc provided, eating out each day. The old mill is quite a steep (but short) walk up from the road. It's also far from almost everything, the nearest supermarket is 1 km away. So you either need a car or decent fitness and hiking boots to get around. If you have that, you're in for some great views! I once took the difficult route up from Santa Cruz via Velhoco, which I would have regretted had it not been for the incredible views I was rewarded with (not for the faint of heart). The barranco route is easier both ways. In any case, it's only a short ride to/from Santa Cruz with a car or taxi. If this sounds like a good place for you, I think you will like it. I had a wonderful time and hope to return some day.
