Elegante appartamento in palazzo storico Ortigia

The owner of the apartment was warm and hospitable and Maria was wonderful and came to meet us when we arrived, and also checked in with us the entire time to see if we needed anything. The location was perfect and only steps away from the nicest beach in town where we went for morning swims each day. You can see the sea from the living room balcony where we took our coffee each morning.... Super comfortable and clean with great natural light -- we even cooked dinner and stayed in several nights, as it was so pleasant to be there. I will come back!

Communication was really easy, and both Francesco and Maria were very quick to reply to any queries. The apartment was absolutely spotless and very spacious, with French windows and shutters in all the rooms, from which you could see the sea. Location is great - in the heart of beautiful Siracusa - so we didn't mind the bit of noise that went with it. Thank you, Francesco and Maria (and your lovely son with his great English), for a wonderful stay!

Nice locale in old building tastefully furnished

Staying at the Elegante Apartmento was like being in a Roman movie! It is very elegant in that it is simple but in good taste. Wonderful high coved ceilings that are from a long ago era. The small balcony overlooking the street and the water was perfect for morning coffee!. The apartment is outfitted with everything you need including the kitchen. Nice little touches like herbal teas and the wonderful Italian cookies Fatiha provided. The location could not be better... convenient to everything but not noisy at all. I would highly recommend letting the property make a reservation at the car park (reservation is required) as it is literally steps away from the apartment. I would definitely stay here again!

This apartment was so spacious, well-equipped, well-located, and in a historic building that was so charming. Maria, and her son Yassin, were wonderfully welcoming and showed us how everything worked.

We loved everything.

The location was superb. 3 minutes walk to Piazza del Duomo. Numerous shops, cafes bars and restaurants in immediate facility. Lovely view of the sea from the balcony. We were met by Maria and she was most helpful. Nice little touches of biscoti and juice left for us. Dishwasher and clothes washing machine worked well. We are on a long stay in Europe so having a clothes washing facility is important to have at least on some stays. The apartment is large and well equiped for a comfortable stay.

The 50 steps to the apartment. Its not suitable for anyone with walking difficulty and hard if, like us you are away for several months which means you are travelling with heavy luggage that has to be carried up. The bed was rather hard, some find that ok but we like a bed that is supportive but with a soft top. We have suggested to the owner that a mattress topper and new pillows would be a good idea. Also there is no frying pan which we feel is necessary in a self catering apartment.

There is a certain atmosphere in this old building with its light sandstone walls and the apartment with its waulted cielings. Frankly, there is a lot more space, that you can use, but that's a part of the charm. Everything is well kept. The relative small kitchen is wery well eqipped, and the host provided us with coffe and other good stuff. Fatiha gave a wery fine introduction to the apartment. Her english is poor, and our italian is much more poor. But she is a great communicator. The situation is ideal with sea view from the balcony and a lot of good possibilities for eating right outside the front door. We wery much recommend the vegan restaurant MOON (No, we are not vegans!) As a general remark about staying in Ortigia: Concider, whether you really need a car. There is a lot of things to do in Ortigia. The owner made contact to a wery fine garage just around the cormer. But driving in Ortigia is challenging.

The dining corner in the living room is rather dark. Well, frankly, the upside lights on the opposite wall in combinations with the cealings gives a great overall lightning. But since we are from Northern Europe, we miss a more focused light. The pictures in the presentation are great. Just notice, that the building on the cover picture is the Cathedral, not the building with the apartment.
