USWe liked the location, the beds were comfortable and our host allowed us to check in early since our flight arrived at 7am, which was wonderful since the long flight and getting no sleep allowed us to at least get a nap in before beginning your adventure.. Everything was clean and it has a kitchen that is adequately stocked with dishes, pots and pans, though it could use a non stick skillet and bigger spatula since heavy stainless steel skillets require more cooking skill than any of us has, lol. Sturla, our host , was helpful, always answered questions and even came by shortly after our arrival to share his advice on pros of renting a car for exploring Iceland, best places to park, great places to visit etc.
The apartment is on the third floor and there is another one above it on the fourth. Unfortunately the tenant ( or squatter) is a bit eccentric and likes to wash clothes at 2am and sometimes seems to wear wooden shoes as she clops around some nights until 3am. The first night my older son finally had the last straw as she started hammering something on the floor above his bedroom and woke two of our party of three. He politely knocked on her door and asked if she had heard all the hammering upon which she swung open her door and began shouting that " i literally haven't heard anything, I haven't done anything and there is literally no one else here but me" . She then slammed the door and afterwords we did not hear a sound for that night. She at least didn't hammer any more, but the walking around over his bedrooms continued off and on after 1am a couple of days later. We did not complain to Sturla, our host, and probably should have told him which is why I am writing this in the review, because he certainly will likely have a solution before the next guest suffers the same fate. Being a light sleeper is also part of the issue, one of us slept through everything and was surprised to hear about the noise.
