Anna's Home in Historical Center

Anna was very helpful and quick to respond if ever we messaged her with questions. The apartment is walking distance to most anything you want to do. We were able to head out to explore on foot and return any time we needed. We also took a day trip by train to Cefalù (recommend!!). Walking to the train was so easy. If you want to be in the middle of Palermo center, this is a great place.

One very, small thing and it’s not really a dislike. I missed having a toaster :)

Anna was very welcoming and helpful. She gave us lots of information about Palermo such as places to visit and restaurant recommendations. She was also a great communicator and was flexible on check in / check out times.

My partner though the bed could have been a bit more comfortable. It was perhaps a little on the firm side but I was happy with it myself. Guess this comes down to personal preference.

Location easy walking distance to vibrant Palermo centre. Restaurants, bars, shops, all close by. Cosy apartment, comfortable furnishings. Lift right outside the door.

Despite being close to the train station and general scruffiness of the neighborhood, Anna’s home was clean, relatively quiet and secure. We used the sofa as a second bed and it was comfortable.

Anna's home was like coming home. Today there are not so many places where they welcome you in person so warmly, show you around the place and Palermo's hidden gems. With Anna we felt like coming to a friend's home. The apartment had an atmosphere of old times with original high ceilings, wooden beams, typical decorated tiles, large windows that you open in the morning and wake up with a golden sun of Palermo, nice wooden furniture, lot of art on the wall and beautiful plants. We fell in love with a kitchen where we could almost see la nonna making typical Italian coffee. The location was perfect, between Via Maqueda and Via Roma, two main streets, 5 minutes from the Central station, all the highlights and picturesque streets, squares, markets to visit are near. 4 days in Palermo was not enough, I hope to visit you Anna again. Apartment is close to main attractions. Thankfully we didn't need to move our car once we found a spot on the street as traffic/driving in Palermo is a nightmare.

While the apartment was 'quirky' and displayed interesting artworks, we felt it was too cluttered to be functional as a rental. The bench areas in the kitchen were so cluttered with other people's left over food and the owners knick-knacks that we were frustrated trying to prepare our own meals so we didn't bother trying to cook. Even though the apartment is well above street level, it's very noisy with people sitting on the doorstep all night talking and fooling around. I had to go down in the middle of night to check on the car and it felt unsafe. The owner also warned us of frequent car theft in the area so we were anxious about that until we finally drove away. There is a school opposite and we were woken early each day with dozens of school kids congregating in the street. There is a very large dog in the apartment next door that barks frequently. The foldout couch was comfortable enough. My elderly mother took the attic room and had to stoop to get around the bed. She was very uncomfortable in general, didn't sleep well and ended up coming down with a terrible cold and cough. We felt like we were imposing - trying to live in someones home that was not fit for purpose. If the flat had a thorough clean-out and deep clean, it would be a great base to enjoy the city from.
