La Bouganville

Its a beautiful apartment. Very clean and with a very nice decoration. The best we had in sicilia for the moment. 5 min away from the center.

Perfect location, just off of the beaten track, so no noise at night, but still only a 3-4 minute walk to the main strip. Fantastic supermarket 2 minute walk down the road. Air conditioners worked really well, the apartment was clean, tidy, and had everything we needed, including a pod coffee machine, and washing machine. There is also a beach umbrella that we were able to use. Overall very lovely spot.

There is no parking available very close by, but this isn’t unusual for Italy, so just keep that in mind if you have small children. Also there are stairs and cobbled paths, so you don’t want to be lugging large bags up and down. This isn’t a negative, but more to be prepared.

It is difficult to find accommodation, located at the top of many corridors and stairs.

Amazing, host met us on arrival, really friendly and helpful. The place was clean and close by to the main street, no noise from outside so the perfect location for us. Would recommend

Very nice welcome from staff. Very clean well located apartment 3 mn walk from main street in town center. Very nice flat with a lot of space and all equipment you need. We had a very nice stay there.

The location is conveniently located near the Porta Catania parking garage, though be warned that it is virtually impossible to find unless you ask a local and there are also 15-20 steps required simply to reach the front door from the sidewalk (which seems standard in Taormina, but an important FYI). The WiFi is very strong, which is a plus. The AC works fairly well too, with one unit in the master bedroom and one in the living room. I also do feel like the host and the proprietor were both very nice people, so for me to be writing this review in spite of that speaks to the gravity of our poor experience.

Where to begin... we arrived and went to wash our face in the bathroom, where we were met with a cockroach literally the size of my fist, crawling along the shower wall. Two hours later, my husband took a shower and within seconds, the entire bathroom, master bedroom and part of the living room were completely flooded with water due to a clogged drain. The host was very apologetic (and apparently roaches are very common?!), but we still spent the first night of our vacation mopping the floor and not sleeping for fear that another roach would be nearby. The following morning, our daughter woke in terror because workers were directly outside the front door sawing a pipe (unrelated to our own plumbing issue, we were told), blasting music, and yelling. There is zero - absolutely zero - soundproofing, and this occurred both days of our stay. The host again apologized, but said it was planned work. OK, but why not tell me THEN that it would happen the next day too? We could have moved our daughter to the other room so she wouldn't be traumatized that someone was breaking into her bedroom, but sure enough, same thing the next morning. I had a full paragraph written about the various other things that negatively impacted our experience, but out of respect for the proprietor and host, I will simply leave it at saying that the cleaning can be improved (check the AC in living room, soap dispenser in bathroom, shower walls, inside of toilet bowl - sit on it and look in). This was the most expensive hotel stay of our entire 3-week trip, and it was easily the most disappointing too. We heard about 10 different apologies, but at a certain point, we just began to feel like we were being taken for a ride because there was a lot of talk and no resolution. I do sincerely hope that these issues are fixed for future guests because I can sense how much this unit means to the proprietor, but there need to be substantial changes if this rental property intends to be successful.
