Virginia's Guest House

Virginia was super helpful, she went over and above our expectations, the property was amazing and perfect for our needs, felt like home from home. When we return to Sorento we will again stay at Virginias guest house.

5 minute max walk to the town, but actually meant we got to see some other sights that would have been missed.

Antonio was an amazing host. He found a car and picked us up at the harbour. Lots of little extras in Fridge and bread for toast. Balcony had a great view. Place was very spacious.

Road at back of apartment is a busy road but windows are double glazed so blocked it well. It is a very lived in apartment so owners have their stuff around. It does make it felt homely but it is the owners bits.

Firstly the host was nothing less than amazing! We had delays with our flights and stayed till 3am to welcome us. Maintained excellent communication throughout the trip. The apartment was stunning and extremely spacious with great facilities. Location is perfect. Close to centre, restaurants, beach front & station. If you are planning a visit to Sorrento I would highly recommend Virginia’s guest house.

We really loved our stay at Virginia's guest house. Both she and her son were so helpful with lots of tips and tricks to make sure our stay was perfect. We were a family of 5 with 2 adults and three older teenagers, and the location was perfect for the kids to go off and do their thing if they wanted to do something different to us. So close to the main pedestrian shopping areas and beach/swimming areas. The house was full of so many extras including food; condiments, juice, milk etc and washing powders, soap, shampoo and conditioner etc and was very clean and cool with the air-conditioning. I would definitely stay again.

this is no reflection on the apartment, but the day we wanted to swim in the pool, it wasn't attended by the life guard (!) so it was roped off and we couldn't swim. Perhaps this was just a one off, but it was ok, we just went to the beach instead.

Very comfortable family owned apartment in a central Sorrento location. It was a short walk to the downtown shopping/eating area. The apartment had everything you could possibly need. The owner's son, Antonio, unexpectedly contacted us before arrival and offered to drive us to the apartment from the Naples airport, which we accepted, and also drove us back to the airport instead of us having to take the train. That in itself was very important to us. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay. Communication was excellent and Antonio contacted us about half-way through our stay to check in on us and see if there was anything we needed.

Virginia and her son Antonio were very personable and enthusiastic hosts. We paid him for an airport shuttle service, and he was great with the kids, a fantastic source of local knowledge and gave us a tour of the apartment. The flat has lots of personal character and is greatly cherished by their family, so it felt a privilege to be allowed to share it. Not only is the flat fully equipped with anything one could possibly need, there were also lots of consumables such as laundry liquid, toiletries, suntan lotion, tissues, good tea and coffee, spices and even breakfast items for us to use. There was a generous allocation of towels. Having two bathrooms, three bedrooms and two balconies was really handy. One balcony is great for breakfast and affords beautiful sea views. The location was great: Despite Sorrento being clearly very popular with tourists, there was still a very authentic Italian vibe and bustle about it. We loved being right in the middle of that, and shops, eateries and the beach were all easily walkable. Sorrento is well connected in terms of trains, ferry and bus (although the trains can be a bit unreliable), so a great starting point for day trips.

It is important to note that the master bedroom has a very firm mattress - great if that's your preference, but we struggled a bit with that at first. One shower could be temperamental in temperature do to fluctuations in water pressure. Virginia was keen to get a plumber to come, but we felt we were coping fine with the other. The kitchen could do with more available storage space for our own food items. The washing machine spin cycle is ineffective, but thankfully, everything dries surprisingly quickly on the sun-facing balcony.

A fantastic place to stay in the heart of Sorrento but for a fraction of the price. We were welcomed by the owner on arrival who showed us around and gave us some useful local tips which set us up for a great stay. The property is a pleasant 10 minute walk to Sorrento town centre where you can find never ending streets of shops and restaurants. There are also some nice places to eat closer to the property (we loved the nearby sushi restaurant!). Buses to various tours also go from just along the street from the property. We loved our stay at Virginia’s Guest House and hope to make it back there some day.

The property is older but is incredibly well maintained and didn’t spoil our visit. There is some street noise but that is common for most places in Italy that we’ve found.
