There are 90 steps and no lift so it’s a good workout with your bags :-). It’s well worth the climb when you get there!

Lovely apartment in the heart of Bologna. within walking distance of all attractions. It has all the comforts to relax after walking on warm summer days. Great view of the city. We will come again!!!

Mansarda Teatro Duse was perfect for our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 teens). It's a huge amount of space by Italian standard, with 2 full bathrooms and and spiral staircase upstairs for a kids room in the attic space. The living room / dining area is a large and nice hang out space but the couch can also function as a sleeping area because all of the skylights have shades. The location was perfect for us. Outside of the touristy main center but close enough to walk there plus the neighborhood has amazing restaurants right downstairs as well as the best gelato place in the city. The wine bar next door has great wine, amazing food and super nice service. It was hard not to go back every night. Plus- you cannot hear any of the restaurant street noise in the apartment. A/C mini splits worked well. Nicoletta was an excellent host. She helped us getting a city permit to bring our car into the historical section where the apartment is located and was very communicative about instructions, etc. We had a repair issue with the handle on the front door upon arrival and she sent someone immediately to fix it. Good and bad- being on the top floor of the building. It was nice not having any noise from above and a lovely view of rooftops, the theater across the way and the green hills outside the city. The bad is that it's a 5 floor walk up. Great for the exercise but a bit much for luggage. Definitely not for someone who has any difficulty with steps or carrying their own luggage. I did see an automated chair lift attached to the stair but we never got any instructions on how or if we could use it. I would definitely stay here again though.

The kitchen was typical- small and hard for more than 1 person to be in. The cooking items (pots/pans/knives) were either limited or old but no worse than any other apartment rental. I could have used instructions on lighting the hob/stovetop as well as notes on which light switches controlled the power for the dishwasher, oven etc. I contacted the owner though and she was very quick to reply with instructions. Plus, you're not in Bologna to cook but it's worth noting if that's what you're looking for. Noise- for the most part a quiet apartment on a smaller street that doesn't get buses etc. A the theater is directly across the street and one night (out of 4) they had a late show and attendees hung out talking and smoking afterwords on the street and it was loud with the windows open. The windows are good, so closing them helped. The after party didn't bother us and was gone by midnight.

Big comfortable living space and fully equipped kitchen with good appliances. Great location. Short walk to hear of old town.
