Saragozza Apartments - Bologna Short Rental

We found and got into the property.

When we searched for accommodations, we searched for beds for 5 travelers and air conditioning. This property showed up because the description said in 2 places that it had air conditioning. NOWHERE in the property description did the owners disclose that only SOME of their properties had air conditioning while some did not. NOWHERE in the description of the apartment did the owners explicitly state that the apartment we reserved did not have the air conditioning promised in the main property description. The lack of air conditioning also was not stated in the chart where we selected the number of beds we wanted. Indeed, the only way one might have discovered that the apartment did not have air conditioning would have been to click a link (that I didn't realize existed until the owner pointed it out when we discovered the lack of air conditioning), and even then you would only divine that there was no air conditioning if you read through all of the amenities and understand by omission that air conditioning was not included notwithstanding the representations made in the main description. We arrived at the property around check in time with temperatures in the upper 80 degrees fahrenheit. We put on the fans and looked for air conditioning only to discover that there were no air ducts and no cooling. In the hour that we stayed in the apartment, it was quite stifling and uncomfortable. My family could not have slept comfortably for 6 nights under the conditions. We contacted the host and were told that there was no air conditioning and that they had no units available with air conditioning. We moved out and we are still in dispute with the owner over payment. We've used Booking for more than 10 years now. This is the first time I have had to write a negative review. The property description is misleading and, since it would be so easy for the host to clarify (as other hosts do), it is easy to conclude that it is the host's intention to mislead.

The host was kind enough to let us leave our luggage at the apartment before check-in, which we appreciated. The apartment itself was spacious and in a convenient area.

Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing overall. Nowhere in the listing was it mentioned that the apartment is on the fourth floor with no elevator, which was extremely difficult for my mother, who has knee problems. The apartment did not appear to have been cleaned properly, the floors were dirty, and our socks became gray and brown just from walking around. There was no air conditioning, only a ceiling fan, and the refrigerator was noisy and didn't seem to cool properly. On top of that, the mattresses were extremely uncomfortable, and all of us ended up with back pain after sleeping on them.
