Wifi was a little slow.

The host was my favorite thing about the visit. She was lovely, and waited outside for us to come. She was happy to answer our questions and gave good advice. The location was only a couple minutes' walk from the Mestre train station, which was a lifesaver. That was really helpful. There was also a bus stop there where the airport buses stop, as well. The washer ran well as long as no one was showering. We made good use of it, and that was also much appreciated. We're big fans of Rolladen blinds, and this place had them! The wifi was pretty good. We really appreciated the free parking, which was right on premise and not even street parking. So many other options we looked at said they had free parking, but we later found out they didn't, and they directed us to the local paid parking garages. The linens were noticeably clean. We appreciated the security of the building. There were locks on the outside gate and the inside door.

Because I could tell the apartment has been loved by the owner, I hesitate to share the shortcomings here. But there are some things that prospective guests should know: While the area could hardly be more convenient to the station, it is otherwise not the best. I would especially not recommend it to single female travelers. I was with my husband, and we were fine -- no one ever approached us, but I still felt unsettled. The apartment is up pretty high. There were 3-4 flights of stairs with no elevator. This is normal for European homes of this vintage. I didn't realize that there were timed light switches we could use to turn on the lights in the stairwell until after I had braved the very dark stairwell a couple of times. With the lights on, it wasn't so bad. The apartment is basically clean, but it is older and there are places that could use some detailing.
